Best Buy says the GameCube controller adapter for Wii U works with “a variety of games”

A listing on Best Buy claims that the upcoming GameCube controller adapter for Wii U will work with “a variety of games”. What that means exactly has yet to be revealed.

Also included in Best Buy’s listing is a reconfirmation that the adapter supports WaveBird controllers.

Is this a big deal for you?

I thought that was granted. Nintendo wasn't going to make that kind of peripheral and only make it work with one game. We just have to wait to the GC virtual console.

Here. Retailers aren't known to be a trusted source though, but it isn't like some random guy typed it up.

Thank you for you incredibly apt title while still containing great information ^_^ Sad the kinds of threads I like hardly ever get very high post count.

This is huge for me. I can't stand the gamepad. I only thought it was awkward to look at now that my roommate has one and we play together I can claim it's downright awful. Now I might order one of those 200 refurb Wii Us just for myself depending upon the number of games this device works with.

Man, wavebird was awesome, but at the same time this whole gamecube adapter business just seems dumb to me, but whatever.

It's fueled people's (partly overblown) unease with the Gamepad.

Great! Now Nintendo simply has to hurry up and announce GameCube games for The Virtual Console!
