The keyword is expression.
Any expression of such thoughts would (to any marketer, 12 years in corporate marketing here btw) be indicative of interest and/or a clamor as such expressions would (not a 100% occurence of course but enough to be statistically relevant) require that the person have at least a stake at the existence of such products to even take the time to voice such thoughts. Kinda like how search engine queries are used in determining a person's purchasing profile.

The people asking for it could be people who never owned a PS3 though. Kinda shitty if you bought the PS3 game with all the DLC and then watch people get a better version for half what you paid.

Which is what Sony stated was their primary target market was.
Games and other products get improved and discounted all the time. You'd need to be utterly self-entitled if you want everyone to pay the same amount you did for the product you got earlier.
If anything, it's the company losing out on potentially higher profits for offering an improved product at a lower price than what it was originally offerd for.
/gasp!!! In which case it is the buyers that are taking advantage of Sony for tricking them into releasing a better version for lesszz1!!11!!!One /mindblown
