Its not the games we hate on, its what they represent...

imagine a world where classics like casablanca, pycho, the wizard of oz, citizen kane, and frankenstien could not longer be consumed or enjoyed simply because technology has changed.

now quit your persistent bitchin' about a select few of the best games ever made being being completly overhauled to make it forward compatible with a vastly different console architecture so they can still still be enjoyed for the next 10 years.

Yeah, thank god companies are remastering the old classics. I remember my grandfather telling me about The Last Of Us, Tomb Raider and GTAV. Man how times have changed.

Its just a port of a game for a platform that didn't exist when it first came out, they made it look prettier cos the hardware is way better but its still just a port.

Are we gonna deride Nintendo for releasing a prettier version of Smash Bros only Months after its out on 3DS?

Some guys are being ridiculous. Do you throw your shit when a film comes to Blu-ray or a book gets a hard back edition.

TLOU=/=TLOUR <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< SSBU =/= SSB3DS

Speak English

math is a universal language

=/= : difference

= : equal

+ : plus

- : minus

> : bigger than

< : smaller than

so the difference in versions is way less, and your point is?

There both still ports seperated by time, neither of which are offering discounted or free upgrades to esisting owners.

Why should people that own a PS4 be forced to buy a PS3 to play TLOU

Why should Sony not release their fairly new game on all there platforms.

I only own a 3DS so im glad theres a port of SSB on it, Id be pissed if Nintendo had made it Wii U only.

More platform availablity is Pro consumer, it gives us choice.

People that think a game should remain exclusive to a single platform are being rediculous.

times haven't changed that much.  my grandpa used to tell me stories about how much of a dick his neighbor was.

For being a PC gamer only you sure do make a lot of posts about how great the PS4 is and never post anything in the PC forums. Your post history has many posts about you having a PS3 as well. Cool thread non bias gaming bro.

Only one I played is The Last of Us.

Just wait for Beyond: Two Souls to get remastered, and emulate God of War.

Remasters are great and contrary to some beliefs they do not interfere with new releases. At this stage the devs need to familiarize with hardware and make some money in the process. A remaster is the best way to accomplish both of these things. It doesn't take much time/people so it doesn't delay new games. All these people who say "they're just remastering a year old game now this is ridiculous" fail to realize that that game was on a LAST GEN system. It's not like KZ Shadowfall is gonna get remade or Dead Rising 3 any time soon. I

f we had a game of the year edition of tLoU coming out soon with all the DLC for PS3 for $50 like every other game no one would be complaining but because Sony is giving us all that AND 1080p 60fps on a new system with a better controller and better online they get slammed. Makes zero sense as even without the notable visual and performance upgrades the DLC and game are worth over $60.

Get Your Portable ID!Lord of Ratchet and Clank

I was tempted to rebut PS3 to play them but I'm glad i didn't

Was told to comment my thoughts in another thread, so gonna bring it here I guess. Will if wrong thread for this and asked.

And I want to say before the copy pasta that that I LOVE HD remasters, just not what they're doing now because of a perceived lack in value.

http://plebegaming.wordpress.com/2014/07/13/excessive-hd-remasters/

I'm fine with HD remasters. I love what they do by going back and bringing some of the classics with updated visuals so today's graphics whores may appreciate them more and I get to enjoy them with more modern touches. What's not to love about updated nostalgia?

Where I draw the line though is when HD remasters for games that literally came out last year are repackaged and sold at pretty much full price. It's not bringing back a classic. It's slapping a new coat of paint on on something barely out of our minds and trying to sell it to us at roughly the same price of the original launch. I work hard for my money, so I'd appreciate if you'd work a little harder for yours, be it a reasonably reduced price for the product you spent almost no effort on, or the extra effort updating a more dated game/collection would take.

If you want to make a good remaster you need to do one of two things:

1) Remake something great that's old enough to invoke nostalgia.

2) Remake a good game like The Last of Us but price it reasonably, perhaps start at a place equal to the price the original is currently selling at.

I'm all for them making money. I just think it's a scumbag move to charge full price, or close enough, for a remaster.

You say it's not different than normal ports, but it is. They're releasing year old games, not brand new ones, at the same price you might pay for brand new material. How much work did they do on them? Not much. They're charging 125% of the price for a game that took 10% of the effort.

How often before have we gotten such terribly priced HD remasters? Yeah with the price drop it's the same price as Wind Waker HD, but Wind Waker was out of production, years old, and received a massive upgrade so it was a great value. Hell most HD Remaster games now come as Collections and are much cheaper than a standard game. FFX/X-2, DMC HD Collection, and several MGS collections are great examples of HD done right and packed with value, but today's re-releases? Not so much.
