Destiny is very similar to Halo. It is a MP gameplay is very different than COD (Mainly because of the shield).

Right now there are a lot of PlayStation users who do not know Halo at all and are like "OMG this game is so awesome, so innovative MP gameplay" while for Halo players, it looks like another Halo MP (do not get me wrong, I'm looking forward for the game, mainly because I'm a Halo fan).

COD > Halo in sales because it is easier to play COD and get some rewarding kills than Halo/Destiny (based on the Alpha).

Right now people (esp. the ones that are "discovering" this type of gameplay) are super excited and believe this game is going to be the next COD... But in a year from now I expect COD to come back as the leader in all FPS on console while Halo/Destiny will still be very good but will not have as much success in MP.

The only thing I care about is the Treyarch zombie mode. Since it's a 3 year dev cycle, I'll prob only buy 2 COD's this gen.

Yes the series has been on the decline, but even Ghosts is tracking towards 25m+ lifetime. I personally find it hard to believe that the most original looking CoD since CoD 4 is actually tracking that far behind Ghosts. But like I stated in my original post, there's more to these numbers than meets the eye, Activision marketing Destiny right now instead of CoD for instance.

Yeah, I agree Destiny will take some sales from CoD. I just was trying to say I think most of the decline was natural decline in videogame sales once a game has peaked. Like how Ass. Creed has peaked and generally has a slow declines in sales with each new game. So the decline is expected. That said, I do agree with your other reasons the preorders are slowing down a lot.
