Forums - Gaming - Games With A Lot of Potential but Didn't Use It

Pokemon Battle Revolution. Anyone remember the very early trailer. It had destroyable environments. And better effects. What we got was plain bad and useless.

Yakuza Dead Souls.

While Dead Souls predates Binary Domain, the exact same team developed it less than a year earlier. Dead Souls uses an extremely weird mix of the Yakuza and third person shooting gameplay which makes the game unenjoyable after you get through the initial phase of how awesome the game is and you try to defend it's style because you're used to the Yakuza gameplay.

If everything in Dead Souls was exactly the same and the gameplay had a more proper controlling conventional third person shooter style of gameplay, pretty much saying if it controlled like Binary Domain in the Yakuza Dead Souls shell, then it would have been a great game. The game has a lot of potential, but it's marred by its controls.

Majora's Mask because with only 4 dungeons it wasn't a full Zelda game, it felt more like a demo.

The dungeons in Majora's Mask weren't really the point, though. I shared your opinion my first time through the game - it didn't really feel like a Zelda game to me - but it clicked the second time around, once I realized that the game is about the overworld and the events that take place there. The dungeons' only real value to the game is in how it impacts the overworld: there's a reason why you can warp straight to the bosses after beating the dungeon the first time.

In short, Majora's Mask does the opposite of Twilight Princess, and treats the dungeon as secondary to the overworld. I rather like it.

I think GTA IV and Banjo Nuts and Bolts could have been much much better games.

Did you play it though? I'm not sure how they could have made it better.

i played the beta. gameplay is top notch. but after the game came out and people finally got their hands on the game, it showed what i was afraid of, that the game will have a serious lack of content. there is no single player, no co-op, little modes, few guns. it just felt bare bones. they built an interesting universe and have interesting gameplay mechanices and ideas. however they could have done so much more.
