Have any of you guys heard of this game? I saw this guy going around forums trying to drum up support not long ago. It seemed the concensus was it seems nice but you need to show a trailer to prove you're not dreaming.

Well he put his money where his mouth is so to speak and showed a short gameplay trailer on how it works. Early stuff but it looks awesome.

Nice art design, but not my kind of game. I need buttons for a platformer. Good luck to the guy though:)

Looks ok but i cant see it having much depth.Would probably get old quite fast.

First lines from the indiegogo page... no buttons but just a stick.

Swipe Knight(working title) is a Metroidvania game controlled with the touchscreen.
The controls are as follows:

Swipe up to jump and swipe down to slide.
Swipe in the direction the hero is walking to attack.
Swipe in the opposite direction to turn around and walk in the other direction.
Swipe down while jumping to do a down thrust.
And more.

Players can also control the hero with the left analog stick in the same way as the swipes.

I don't know, simple controls don't necessarily mean a lack of depth. Look at classics like Megaman and Mario 1-3, they all hold up well till this day and have varying levels of depth. More recently there's Shovel Knight, and it's arguably the best in the genre.

There's supposed to be multiple weapons and items according to the indiegogo page. He goes on about large worlds so there may be quite a bit.

Dont compare this to Mega Man and Mario. Thats just rude.

How is it rude? Megaman and Mario both had two command inputs, jump and shoot/attack. This has the same thing. Just because the control scheme is different doesn't make it any different in that regard.

This hasnt even been released yet. MM and Mario have easy controls, but they are fine tuned like you wouldnt believe. Just because theyre simple controls, doesnt mean they are simple to get right.

You're preaching to the choir here. Everything I write about usually tangents on how great Megaman/Mario/Shovel Knight controls are. I wasn't talking about the controls in terms of technical skill, I was pointing out that simple controls don't mean a shallow game. I hope you agree with me on that.

That said, his game play demo shows the controls being pretty responsive. Can't be positive until I get my hands on it, but they at very least look competently done.

That was not a demo, that was a trailer. Every game can look great when you pick out the best moments...
