Forums - Gaming - (Kotaku) Sources: Crytek Still Facing Issues As Homefront Director Resigns

I like how some believe this is because of ryse. This is happening because of their track record. They aren't really a great developer. They are suffering because of all their past games overall.

Their games are OK and sell decent, but the lack of CryEngine adoption is what's hurting most.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Not too long ago, the CryTek head dude thought, F2P is the way to go for everything they do... and so they did

Now they are going to go bankrupt. Moral of the story, F2P only works for certain game genre, and only so many F2P games can work in market at any given time (everything else will operate in total loss).

This is exactly why I say NO when all my friends and family tell me I should get into game development. It's a nasty volatile industry. I have a friend that does it and he changes jobs every year or so. No thank you.

On one hand - totally right, in fact its probably worse if you work in game dev in the USA.. UK has generally been a little more stable (probably due to employment laws). There are benefits to working in the industry, but i can see why it's not recommended.

Making an indie game : Dead of Day!

You may disappear as a company, but your memory will live in the heart of every gamer, Cryting!

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I beg to differ. They make pretty games but the gameplay is not that fun. Crytek and GG are the same to me. Both make pretty games but overall gameplay isn't that good. KZ was boring as hell. The MP is bad IMO. Nothing but a spawn granade killing fest.

The only experience I had with them that I know of was my attempt to play the buggy nonsense that is Cyrsis 2 and that game is so disgusting and depressing that I have no desire to play any of their games.
