if two are the same its actually just 2 consoles then. Well 1 if the other 2 are PCs.
So its just WiiU vs PCs = 1 console :)
TBH the way I see it is this. There was NIntendo and then came sony. There is no reason for sony to be in the console market. Then came Microsoft there is even less reason for MS to be in the console market.
And since for years 90% of what Sony or MS did is actually make PC games for a couch. Why dont they just make PC games for the steambox?
NIntendo is so completely different that they have somewhat of a reason d'être
Its like the ABXY debacle. NIntendo came up with ABXY and then someone else changed it. Now the "wrong" ABXY is "standard" but who cares. Why should NIntendo change their ABXY layout?

I'd say that's more Microsoft's problem than Nintendo's. Someone owning a PS4 is more likely to buy a Wii U as a second console than an Xbox One. Why on earth would someone already owning a PS4 buy an Xbox One..? They would have to pay a second subscription for an online service, multiplatform titles on the Xbox One have for the most part been inferior and the console doesn't have anywhere near the quality of exclusives that the Wii U has.
Perhaps there isn't room for 3 consoles, but given how the Xbox One has been flopping after its successful launch and the points I've made above it's Microsoft that has a bigger problem than Nintendo. It's only a matter of time before the PS4 SKUs of multiplatform titles sell twice as much as Xbox One SKUs and third party publishers are going to start to take notice.
Id rather MS leave than Ninty, gaming has gone down hill imo since MS busted in on the scene. They're brought about most the policies that have and are destroying gaming imo.
At the moment, seems that there is no console doing well, even the "ultramega powerful" PS4 is regularly selling less than 100k per week.
I never saw such depressing numbers for the industry. But yet, I don't think there simply isn't room for 3 consoles, the industry is weak for everyone at the moment, but with good games Nintendo can do ok (like game cube or n64 numbers).

Fanatismo não leva a nada, apenas a colecionar antipatias.
Collection: Telejogo Ford-Philco, Dactar, TV Game 2600, Master System (2x), Master System Portable, NES, Dynavision 3, Mega Drive 3 (2x - Tectoy and Show Do Milhao Edition), Genesis 3, Genesis Arcade Motion, MD Play, SNES (2x), Super Famicom, Neo Geo CD, 3DO, Saturn, Playstation, Nintendo 64 (2x), Dreamcast, Playstation 2, Game Cube, Xbox, Zeebo, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 (Kinect Bundle), Wii (2x - White and Red), Game Boy Pocket, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, DS Lite, 3DS, Vita, Wii U, Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Around 800 games. Preferred Generation: 16 bits.
Nonsense. There is as much room in the market for as many systems as provide a compelling reason to enough people for ownership.
Nintendo's problem is that as great as their games are, the average consumer isn't interested. Wii remotes proved a distraction, but the Wii U controller hasn't and the result is dire hardware sales.

WiiU also has a big naming problem.
Its called Wii. The Wii wave is long gone and people lost interest in the Wii in 2010 or so. Also the name WiiU does not explain if its an accessory or a console. Alot of people still dont understand what WiiU is.
NIntendo miserably failed with the name. I dont know why they thought calling the system WiiU was smart. I mean DS has no "Gameboy" in its title and is the most successful Nintendo handheld ever even tho it was the first handheld to have serious competition (PSP).
The name is just very bad.
New Super Mario Bros worked. So why not NEW (SUPER) NINTENDO ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM?

Innovation like cartriges on n64 that cost them most 3rd party support, guess its greed over innovation. Or a tablet controller in a vain attempt to jump on the tablet badwagon to drive sales through a gimmick. High budget games really, arent nintendo fans the biggest aaa haters around.

Too long, and new super mario bros was a shitty game.. the only one who don't understand that the wii u is a new console are casual gamers. And they were many on the wii ( just dance, wii sport, and shit ). I think it is better for nintendo to keep " real " gamers like during the gamecube/n64 and snes period.. but that may mean they will sell less consoles.
