FPS' run rampant on the heels of CoD on other systems.  Nintendo has "the CoD of racing" already cornered off in Mario Kart.  Nintendo releasing another racing game is like Activision reviving an old FPS that plays like CoD with some gimmicks here and there.  What's the point?


The COD of racing? One game a console is a "COD" of whichever genre?

Saying Diddy Kong Racing is just MK with "gimmicks" (god I hate that word) also makes no sense to me, since I played both it and MK64 and that just sounds completely untrue.

CoD in the sense of sales and popularity.

You'd be surpirsed how similar DKR would be to MK now, with the gliders and driving underwater.  

Why do you hate the word gimmick?

If this happens I fear the general public will see it as a poor man's Mario Kart but personally I think it'd be interesting because the original DKR had a good single player campaign even though I didn't finish it XD

Diddy Kong Racing 2.... I love it! Retro working on it? I love it!

Why are so many people not liking this? Diddy Kong racing was better than MK64 IMO. So many things could be implemented into the sequel.

That said, who knows if retro is working on something else as well? Also, just a rumor at this point.

Since Rare owns the IP rights to most of the characters featured in the original DKR, essentially Retro is literally working on a Mario Kart clone since only Nintendo-owned characters can appear in it.

Maybe they can license Foamy The Squirrle. Just think of the possibilities.

I'm not just talking about this specific game, but since you bright it up, they've basically went and revived "Classic" main series, there's now a rumor of remaking a spin-off series that is a wannabe Mario Kart.

 

Great job, Nintendo for wasting resources.
