Blech! I hate that idea. What's next... Link and Samus teeing-off in Mario Golf? |

Better than having two separate golf games. In the unlikely scenario that nintendo were to have the idea of making a zelda golf game, yes I'd seriously prefer them just expand mario golf to include more characters. |
Hmmm, Zelda Golf? Octoroks on the course... sand traps with Leevers... a Navi caddy... err... better not give them any ideas.
I must say I did enjoy Octoball Derby in A Link Between Worlds, though.

Lol exactly my feelings. Ultimately I'd prefer nintendo not throw their characters into silly sports games, but if they have to then there really should only be one of each and even then a Nintendo sports stadium game would be preferable.

FPS' run rampant on the heels of CoD on other systems. Nintendo has "the CoD of racing" already cornered off in Mario Kart. Nintendo releasing another racing game is like Activision reviving an old FPS that plays like CoD with some gimmicks here and there. What's the point? |
The COD of racing? One game a console is a "COD" of whichever genre?
Saying Diddy Kong Racing is just MK with "gimmicks" (god I hate that word) also makes no sense to me, since I played both it and MK64 and that just sounds completely untrue.

Thinking about this, if this is true then that probably kills any chance of Kirby Air Ride 2 coming out this Gen.

Nintendo has to think about survival at this point. They can't just make whatever they want any more, if they want to stay in the home console market they need to focus on making games that move hardware.
DKR2 will not move a significant amount of hardware, just like Tropical Freeze didn't, because they both appeal to an audience that Nintendo already has on lockdown. They need to concentrate on capturing new gamers, or over time their fanbase will wither away.

With the ideas from my other thread I think there are a couple things Nintendo can do. One is like you said work on attracting new gamers, but they can also work on increasing the attach ratio of their own software. For example, Mario Kart has sold 2 million. There are 6 million+ wii u owners right now. How does Nintendo attract more of the people that already own Wii U's to buy Mario Kart?
