What I hate about Remasters is that they are sold for full price and usually have one game. HD Collections were $40 and had 2-3 games included.

200$ to buy a system for one game? Some PC gamers feel that 30 fps is "unplayable". |
but 400$ to buy a system for one game is perfectly fine...?
Yeah, thats why they play games on the PC.
I do agree that sometimes the remasters can get out of hand... I mean with talks that Beyond: Two Souls will also get a re-release it is getting a bit much, but then again they have to fill the gaming drought somehow!
Bring on TLoU: Remastered

The Last of Us is the only game for PS4? Lots of people are migrating from 360 -> PS4. But that means they are missing out on TLoU. |
The Last Of Us wasnt the only game on the PS3 either...
What game made the 360 gamers jump onto the PS4....Knack?
People just love to hate. I personally ignore the haters now as it is a waste of my time.

It's a quick cash grab, and it shows that the company had little planned in terms of original content for that release period. It also means that the company is spending lots of money advertising the game over again, even if the development cost is just a fraction of the original. If we start to see remasters replacing brand new AAA titles as TLOU is this summer, I'll be disappointed. There are few AAA PS4 games ready other than TLOU for this summer from Sony. |
How much money are they spending on it really? I mean don't they advertise GOTY editions as well?
And don't even get me started on Sony not having games ready for PS4...
Remember when games actually had dev cycles and weren't rushed to meet release dates? When budgets used to be responsible rather than blank checks? When Games didn't fail at 10 million sold? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

What do games have to do with it? They are just there for PS4 owners to have something to do.

Remaster are fine for the games that need a remaster... Like old games such as Halo 2 or WW or KH and etc... What doesn't need remasters are games that are less than one years old because all they will get is a slight resolution bump and unlock the frame rate and some other minor stuff which takes minimum amount of work and therefore I see it as a quick cash grab because instead of giving people a new game in this drought, they are giving people a game thats not even a year old... I get the whole, people that havnt played this game get to play it now but considering how little amount of games are coming out for the console atm, I wish they gave a new game or a remaster of a game that actually needed a remaster instead of a òne year old game...

Perhaps most of the games they were interested in were on Xbox 360 as well. Consider Call of Duty. If you play that and 4 other games on the 360 with not much else interesting you. (You get it on the 360 because that's what your friends have and because it is cheaper at the time.) Even if for some reason TLoU is interesting to you, buying another system is a waste of space and frankly for one game it is a waste of money. Probably Call of Duty. New gen, cheapest price, and now the fact that people want to play games with their friends is probably what is driving the PS4. |
Yeah, but they didnt buy the PS3 for Killzone, Infamous, uncharted, LBP and all the other PS3 games either. The Call Of Duty crowd plays Call Of Duty....thats it.
They might buy TLOUR to see what the hype is about, but it adds nothing to the PS4 or gamers in general.

They hardly advertise GOTY editions, so I don't see where that's coming from. Sony is advertising TLOU as its flaship title for the summer, so tons of money is being poured into it.
You don't ever see remasters as flagship titles. The Symphonia Chronicles, the Kingdom Hearts remasters, etc. all came out as secondary titles which supplemented a variety of original titles. The only flagship remakes I can think of recently are OoT 3D and WW HD, both of which are well over a decade old, and were both changed far more than TLOU remaster.
And Sony not having any games prepared for the summer is their own fault. Delays may be good for the game, but they are also signs that the team didn't plan out the developmental timing properly.
