Forums - Gaming - Destiny Playstation Beta Dates Exclusive DLC Content Has XB Fans Threatening To Pull Support

well, I'm getting this on the ps4, so it doesn't really affect me... However, this is a dick move by activision. it is one thing to delay content for another version for like a month, but to essentially lock content that people paid the same amount of money for on one version for a year? that is pretty ridiculous...

Well, some are exaggerating on the Internet but it's still funny how Bungie is what they are nowadays because of the Xbox community and now they are like:

"how can we annoy exactly this community every once in a week with some new "bad" info"

Bungie is my favourite studio but it sucks hard what they do. I mean, this is truly a new low if it comes to exclusivity deals if you look at the sheer amount of "exclusivity" for a single game. And that from a studio who always threatened their community that good.

Some will say it's Activision's fault but Activision has only a publishing deal with Bungie and doesn't own them. I'm sure Bungie could have done something against it if they would have tried. At least against some of the stuff. Only an exclusive Alpha or only a timed exclusive DLC would have been acceptable.

This has been happening with cod for how long? Lol
The whole situation is kind of shity since Bungie is doing it now, but I'm getting the game on PS4 so I don't mind.

No one didn't say that the exclusive DLC was never coming to other platforms. They probably can't say due to the red tape on the NDA. However, I'm with the consensus here. Microsoft have been pulling these practices for a while now and no one bats 2 eyes when it happens.

I've been hearing comments like this on Kotaku and Game Informer alike. Saying stuff like, "f--- u Bungie, Xbox made you", and "way to shaft us Xbox gamers Activision". I personally hate timed and exclusive content on any game if it's going to be mulitplat. It's stupid. Still, I guess it's Sony's turn to do this b.s. exclusive marketing, dlc, crap. *sigh*

People wont play this for a whole year anyway. Itll do ok at launch and then start to dwindle after a month or two, until it dies off about 8 months after...

but timed dlc is a publishing issue.  This isn't a development issue.  Distribution is something that would fall under activisions responsibility.  After putting up 500 million investment in this game, I'm sure activision is going after any extra cash they can get to help mitigate some of the risk they have put themselves in.  Timed dlc, exclusive alpha/beta's, console exclusive content are result of this.

I don't think bungie has anything to do with this kind of stuff.

Looks like Sony bet on the right horse here! They finally have a counter to MS's COD deals because they caught this game EARLY (first PS4 conference in Feb. 2013) and advertised it heavily along with their system. They bet on the new IP (though from a big dev and publisher) and it's going to pay off big for them. Same deal to a smaller extent with Watch Dogs. Sony is backing new IP and investing in the future with these exclusive deals. Couple that with their plethora of first party studios and well...you see the sales.

This is going to be a very popular game, people will still be playing it after a year, trust me.
