Forums - Gaming - Will the Elder Scrolls VI manage to look better than Skyrim with mods?

Yes, it'll, cause mods are shit, in general, ...and gen difference, duh.

They won't top those screens in the OP and many PC gamers don't have the setup to even run it at that high of fidelity much less actually play it.

A mid-end card could run almost all of those mods, so I dunno what you're talking about. If you take a Radeon 7950, not even a 7970, it could run all of those. A Nvidea 760 could run almost all of those.

ENB? I don't think so. I can run most of those as well but ENB is something else, you need higher end cards for that.

One thing I never understood is why do people complain that female characters look "ugly" in Skyrim when its skyrim, its supposed to be a harsh place to live in, a mountain area where barely any cities in there.

It would make a lot of sense in Oblivion , as cyrodil supposed to be the city of beauty and glory... but they made it all cartoony in Elder Scrolls Online.

It's not so much as they are "ugly" as much as it is that they are unpolished. The textures for them are atrocious, as are the customization levels. If you look up a mod called Vilja in Skyrim, you'll see an example of what Bethesda should have done with their characters. She looks like she came from a harsh place, but at the same time she isn't nearly as bland as the vanilla characters.

She looks like a rich woman with perfect skin who wants to play a viking on carnival

That's a problem I often see with the modding scene for these kind of games. They make characters who have perfect skin, are beautiful or at least don't look like they have to work 18 hours a day on a field with nothing as a half broken rake made of wood or someone who is traveling around the country, sleeps under a tree or in a cave and kills monsters and bandits all the time.

Most are made to attract the potential downloaders of the mods which is pretty stupid to be honest. Most characters in such a game should disgust us for nowadays standards with dirty skin, missing teeth, scars and sometimes a missing finger or stuff like that

Sure, some people could look great but most should look like their life is as hard as you can only imagine. The woman on the picture doesn't look to me as if she ever had to do anything with her soft hands except for polishing her armour.

her hands should look like this

Of course not. The game wouldn't sell if they tried that because only 10,000 or so people would be able to run it.

Thats why PC games has a thing called the options menu where you can change the graphics level to low, medium, high or advanced to match the needs of your pc...

OP: Probably not but hopefully the world will be amazing to make up for it! Its like how GTA IV mods at the highest settings looks so mind blowing that GTA V still cant match even with the next gen upgrade but GTA V is still a better game imo

No. They wouldn't even be able to scale down far enough if they put the graphical fidelity that high up. They would essentially have to make a separate game. Not to mention the amount of time and money that would be needed to get it to the level of having the game run all or even most of the graphical mods that dozens upon dozens of individuals and teams created over the years. You're no looking at the entire picture here.

Its not as bad as u think unless the pcs u are thinking of are like pentium 2s or something... The PCs that have a Nvidia 425M (which is a super entry level laptop video card) can even run games like BF4 on low-medium settings no problem (at 720p that is)

I'm not sure what you're trying to prove with your example. BF4 can run on a PS3 and a 360, so that doesn't make it a next gen title. Last time I checked, a 425M is more powerful than the GPU in the PS3 and the 360.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

What I want to know, is if some of these modders are so talented at doing good graphics, why the hell are they doing this bullshit for free, instead of working in the industry?

There are tons of cities in Skyrim, and not everyone has a job that gets their hands dirty. There are mages, merchants, nobles, advisors, etc. who have no business being as dirty as that picture. A seasoned blacksmith or soldier, sure (Vilja is neither). Harsh environment =/= dirty hands.

What card do you have? A current-gen mid-end card should be able to run ENB on medium for the most part.

And even then, I did say most, not all (except for the 7950, I said all for that and I'll stand by that). Graphic mods like landscape, lighting, textures, models, meshes, etc. can be run by tons of cards.

That's why I said

"some people could look great but most should look like their life is as hard as you can only imagine"

And even if Skyrim would have 10x as many cities, did you see what kind of cities that are and how people live there? What they have to do to get even the most simple stuff done?

Most of who you mentioned would still have to look much worse as they do in many mods. It's a world where it's hard to live in and also very cold  and just because you are a merchant and not a blacksmith doesn't mean that your life wouldn't be damn hard. Most characters even tell you about their problems and whatever and then they look like someone who got a nose surgery and who has a nice hot bath with the best shampoo in town twice a day.

Don't tell me that the woman in the picture you posted looks like someone who really uses the sword she carries with her...or that she ever even had to kill a rabbit. Like I said, she looks lik she is dressed for carnival and not like someone who is regularly fighting against anything. It's not only about the dirty hands (which most should have in such a world) but also about the skin.

Haha yea my question as well. Maybe it's because they can work on something already made, but can't come up with it on their own?

She's not even from Skyrim, she's from Cyrodil. I was pointing out textures and lighting/reflections in terms of what they could look like. To each their own, though.

^Personally I think that modded Skyrim chick looks kind of creepy, like a Barby doll or something. I like ESO's character models personally, they look good to me, better than Bethesda's character models in Skyrim for sure, and they don't look as creepy as most of the character mods I've seen for Skyrim. I hope that Bethesda improves their character models alot in Fallout 4, and again in TES 6 in a few years, and not just the looks, but also the depth of customization, the characters in ESO are much more customizeable than the characters in Skyrim.

Really? Well, 1,000,000+ people would disagree with you. She's by far the most downloaded companion mod.

It probably won't, but as long as it has a dense world, I'm fine with it. This is what matters most.
