Nintendo always has a lot of sport games on their consoles. Counting Mario spin-offs, Wii series and other franchises:
-Soccer: Mario Strikers
-Basketball: Mario Hoops, Wii Sports Resort, Mario Sports Mix
-Tennis: Wii Sports, Mario Tennis
-Racing: Mario Kart, F-Zero, Diddy Kong Racing, Kirby Air Ride, and a lot more
-Golf: Wii Sports, Mario Golf
-Bowling: Wii Sports
-Boxing: Wii Sports, Wii Sports Resort, Punch Out
-Baseball: Mario Sluggers, Wii Sports,
-Volleyball: Mario Sports Mix
-Hockey: Mario Sports Mix
-Hunting: Duck Hunt
-Paintball: Splatoon (sort of)
-Archery: Wii Sports Resort
-Snowboarding:1080° Snowboarding
-Waterboarding: Wave Racer
-Chess: Wii Chess
-Olympics: Mario & Sonic
And that's without counting all the NES sports.
The problem I see is that almost all of those sports appear in collections of mini-games, and not in fully competitive sports. They need to make a game centered around one sport only, with the same dedication they put on Mario Kart.
