I hope not, 3D these days is just extremely unnecessary.

It would actually be nintendo's take on VR.

VR huh? Well we all know what happened when Nintendo did that...

Nintendo 3DS is Nintendo's take on VR with glasses-free 3D and true Panarama view and virtual surround sound Speakerphones and surround sound audio via earphone jack (I believe 6.0 speaker sound).

So Nintendo should do it again for another 3DS success.

The Amazon Fire does that on a mobile phone for 199. It uses two stereo cameras (but has four for robustness)

Aaaaaand more gimmicks... Great...

Yes, how terrible for them to try to think of new ways to play games.......

Dude, Sony confirmed that no one wants 3D gaming. Yet Nintendo is investing in it. That's market research they're ignoring.

3DS vs. PS Vita.

Why are they still pursuing 3D? What a fruitless endeavor. Iwata let the 80% approval rating go to his head.

3DS vs. PS Vita.

That was due to games. I'm pretty sure if you had a poll for all 3ds users that use the 3D it would come up under 30%.

Nintendo3dsblog.com was the best place to ask, and I did and somewhere around 85% of 3DS owners say they use 3D 99% of the time, and most of those users said they usetonotbelievein 3D until Nintendo showed them otherwise with the 3DS, except in the game Steel Diver.

Well, it's not the same as traditional 3D gaming if it's similar to that head-tracking video as it lacks 3D's inconveniences.

As you can see, until he places the sensor bar at the TV again, other people in the room would see a normal image on the screen (unlike 3D's double image) and the recipient of the head-tracking only needs IR sensor mounts, not special lenses.  Also, it would work with any TV and would be pretty inexpensive.  The downside is that not everyone in the room could take advantage of the effect at the same time.

Could be one of those things that's a nice little optional extra that wouldn't cost too much for the consumer or Nintendo.

Headtracking is not the same as 3D.  I'm not aware of any currently available games that make use of headtracking.  Sony hasn't confirmed anything (in either regard).
