Is Sony uncapable of shipping 5k weekly? Have their financial condition been so bad they can't produce more?/joking

What is your toughs on why PSV is outsupplied?

They're in stock at all the stores around me (West Michigan).  Most of the boxes are even getting a bit dusty.

Liarrrrrrrr , guards cut the head of this disbeliever.

Lalalalalalalala can't hear you through this giant isle crowded with sold out signs and empty vita boxes.

Kidding, the nationwide report probably account for a small sample of regions, altough I find it strange that there are several boxes on the stands since the shipping is low.

are they only able to produce negative PS Vitas and can't keep up with the extremely high demand of 0?

you siLly man, every ps4 they make they need to disassemble a psvita to include crossplay, this way they manufacture negative and can't supply the high nill demand.

Sony announced exactly a month ago that they are discontinuing the PSP.

64m for the 3DS sounds a bit low, but even if it sells 64m, and vita sells 17m, they'll outsell the Vita.

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-06-03-sony-to-discontinue-psp-in-japan-next-month

UPDATE 3.27pm: A new report suggests that Sony is ending support for PSP worldwide - not just in Japan.

European shipments of the PSP will also cease - albeit at some point later this year.

We're still waiting to hear back from Sony on details for the UK.

ORIGINAL STORY 11.45am: Sony will ship its last PlayStation Portable in Japan next month, the company has announced.

Can't find any sources, but I am sure they also stated that they don't plan on stopping shipping to asia (Not Japan) and south america until end of this year.

PSP Lifetime more than PSV+3DS Lifetime.

Because its hard to gauge such small demand. They don't want to make/ship too many and more importantly the retailers don't want to order too many.

People need to understand that manufacturers only ship what retailers order.

Vita is virtually dead in the west and the retailers are very wary.

This, pretty much.

If it's selling badly, retailers won't order many units, hence Sony won't produce many units. Then if there's some sort of sales spike of any kind, no matter how small, demand will outstrip supply. And ordering/producing/shipping new units simply isn't done overnight, but takes a good while.
