Forums - Gaming - Anyone else feel games without achievements/trophies are a waste of time?

I think achievements and trophies are a waste of time. I have trophies turned off on both PS4 and Vita, and I am enjoying games much more than when I had X360 and worried about those meaningless G.

Lol no. The achievement is the joy I get playing a game, not some job I feel obligated to do to hear a stupid bing.
Anyone who games for achievements and trophies and not for the joy is gaming wrong. Not saying it can't be fun to get these achievements but it isn't always and to waste your time on that is just fucking stupid.

So you don't think people have fun getting all these trophies? Why would they do it then?

OCD?

I've never cared much if a game does/doesn't have trophies, but I've found when they do i have an overwhelming urge to get all of them :p

On that note, fuck Catherine. Ain't nobody got time for that.

I would but she's not real 😭😭😭

What is a trophy?
A miserable little pile of score points!
(throw my computer to the ground)
But enough talk! HAVE AT YOU!
(epic battle ensues)

woah I can't believe I just read that with the actual voice, good one

OT: achievements feel like a chore to me, so I only try to get them on a normal playtrough, I never go out of my way just to get them unless I really like the game in which case they kinda appear themselves

Sense of achieving something with their life?

Which is the motivation that drives us all in everything we do.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I could care less about trophies but understand why kids that grew up in the 90's feel a need to have them.  That's when schools and sports started handing out gold stars/awards for basically just showing up. That everyone has to feel special and no one could feel left out crap made it's way onto gaming with the really not needed gamer score/trophy system.  I don't need to get a gold star when i play games how you are supposed to play them.

No. I like achievements, but can live without them...

This... I really like the little sound that a new trophy makes during a game, but if they are not there I dont care... I never even tried to Platinum a game. Best case I managed to open like 50 or 60% of the trophies/achievements.
