I have yet to play any games that released this year, but I'd guess Donkey Kong or Transistor or Shovel Knight

I think its like Monster Hunter with a more anime-ish style and more focus on story. So yeah, it sounds pretty cool.

Wow! That's serious praise. I'll have to play it ASAP. I really enjoyed Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein (2009).

@OP: I've barely played anything this year, but my early vote goes to Mario Kart 8. It's a masterpiece.

Bit early to say so far don't ya think? Well, up to this point I would have to say MK8 I think, that or DK:TF. Hasn't been a whole lot to catch my attention so far though.

It is much, much better than the 2009 game.  RTCW is a classic, don't know if I can say it is better than that, but play it dude!  You will love it.

Well, I haven't had a chance to play a lot of what released this year. I'd say the coolest things I know to release this year have been:

Mario Kart 8
DKC: Tropical Freeze
Wolfenstein
Transistor
Shovel Knight

I don't really care about Infamous, Watch Dogs, or Titanfall and none of the 4 notable titles on 3DS the last 6 months seem better than the above listed.
