edit: i think ps4 is also overtracked, though only in NA.

1. The kinectless X1 wasn't heavily advertised

2. No, I don't believe the numbers, both NA and Europe are +70% two weeks ago and +14% one week ago. I really don't believe that the 399 Euro kinectless X1 sold better than the 449 Euro Titanfall bundle (regular price in Europe, no bargain). +70% in NA sounds more reasonable.

Overtracked on purpose imo. Ioi's trying to give Xbox One fans another week of peace before the Nintendo fans start dropping thread after thread about how Wii U outsold Xbox One two weeks in a row.

While I doubt that it's intentional, history has shown us that for 2014, VGC numbers have gone from bad to terrible in terms of accuracy.

What we know for a list of facts :

Amazon has predicted the winner of PS4 v XBO every month this year with ease, even with relative accuracy by extrapolating from their best-sellers lists.

NPD has shown VGC to be off EVERY_SINGLE_MONTH, sometimes by triple-digit percentages.

VGC has CONSISTENTLY OVERTRACKED THE HOLY HEL OUT OF XB1.

The Xbox One Kinect bundles aren't even in the top 100 any more. Poof. The 360 is outselling XB w/Kinect.

As for 360 players moving to PS4, they're already doing that en masse. Higher than normal sales of TLOU:HD will prove that (due to people not having played the game in the first place). Double-dippers are the more hardcore crazy people, and there really aren't that many of them. I could see a decent number of former PS3 players rebuying TLOU:HD if there were a good trade-up program, or later on for $19 or something, but $50? Nah, that's for the REALLY hardcore fans. Remakes overall are not going to be huge movers this gen, people overwhelmingly want fresh experiences and games not hobbled by old designs.

You can find the console for 450 or even 400 including kinect and one game if you search well (and this has been for months). Why would people buy Xbox One now for 400 with no kienct and no game?

It's probably quite a bit below 71k. Stripping what were once an integral part of your console and then calling it a "price cut" didn't get ANYONE excited. Obviously a few people said "ehh might as well pick it up now" .. but there was absolutely zero buzz. That's the general consensus here in the San Francisco/Oakland Bay Area. Everyone wants a PS4 it's really reminding me of the PS2 days all over again... but at least then the X Box was so much more powerful at least it had that going for it... Now it is not only substantially weaker, has the worst version of multi plats between teh One and PS4, and it costs the same... oh and everyone is getting their multiplats on PS4 this gen it seems and people tend to follow the crowd. It wasn't long ago the PS2 dominated the USA, the 360 stole that thunder slightly but the PS4 seems to have recaptured people. The USA is far from a 360 only region. Actually so far this gen it's heavily leaning PS4. It took a $100 price cut to put the One over the PS4 in the USA for only 1 week.

EXCELLENT run down of where things stand...and I agree...Amazon, as one of the top US retailers of consoles, is a VERY good indication of where things stand!

I am also planning on buying TLOU for PS4...as I never played the original.  I also think $50 is more than fair, since it also includes all of the DLC.  I don't think they will have any problem selling this game...since there are well over 8 million people just WAITING for more software!
