Forums - Sony - Sony to Continue First and Third-Party PS3 Support as Long as “There is a Good Business”

I don't feel my PS3 is getting the great 1st party support fans have boasted about since the PS4 released.

3rd parties are doing the heavy lifting.

This.

Third-party Japanese devs in particular.

Unlike Nintendo who drops their last gen console like a hot steamy dump right after current gen releases.

DS?

I will agree though, more or less. Wii....what did we have? Fortune street? Zelda? What can we include? Mario Party 9?

N64...ummm....GC....ummm...TP?

The reason they drop support so fast on consoles is because they have no 3rd party backup. Even though they haven't done much, imagine if titles like Pikmin 3, Super Mario 3D World, and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze were released on Wii. Wii U would be even worse right now.

Thanks for all the great memories!

PS3 is just about dead - down by 1/2 over last year, fewer and fewer games, established franchises selling less and less even as the base is theoretically over 80m. We're at the point now where the typical PS3 owner is buying 0 to 2 games per year, and that will only shrink going foward at a more and more rapid pace. Based on the numbers to date for VGC only SW / HW (32m / 82m), going by the average, only 40% of PS3 owners have bought a game for PS3 in 2014. In practice some have bought none and a few have bought money - but the trend is still down.

Your analysis use to mean something here....in 2008. Your assumptions today are just as bad as the Japan preview days. The fact that you don't even consider digital sales and especially PS+ in your rant is mind boggling. The only thing you post here in the last few years is how the gen is dying. It's a new gen. Why don't you show us some graphs on how PS4 and X1 are outselling their predecessor's by record margins?   Of course not, cause that doesn't go with your negative schtick..

PS2 is officially dead in 2011 or something like that, so they'll keep support for PS3 until 2016-17 I suppose.

Hey don't click here ! It's creepy !!

I want a PlayStation All-Stars Sequel ! Come on Sony, stop making too many shooters !

I'll make a better signature when I'll have time to do it...
