Forums - Politics Discussion - Will Religion ever be illegal in America?

That would be stupid as it would criminalise so many people. Just as enough people are rotting away in jail as it is! Some stupid laws do get passed but this would thankfully never happen.

Religion gives hope to people, it's not going anywhere, not ever.

What makes you so sure of this? Sure it gives hope. Religion like Cigarrettes, alcohol, fattening foods are tailored towards the poor. This is not to be rude. Food Stamps, Coupons, even Walmart discount get you unhealthy foods in the US. Cigarrets and alcohol are sometimes the only things that are legal that poor people can do to make their dreary world better. So the government taxes it to death. Religion. Cannot be touched by the government, poor do not have to pay, and as you said, praying gives you hope. Hope for a better life, hope that your life will mean something in the end when you go to heaven.

Right?

Thanks spurge for coming to the aid of religion
!

Wow. I didnt know there was still so many religious people in the year 2014. Particularly on a videogame forum!
Im certainly a little embarrased, but oh well...its your life guys, if you want to seek 'hope' talking with a imaginary pal in your head thats ok, im not going to oppose you.
Take care.

Relax. I'm just having a good laugh at these "arguments "

Discussions are meant to be an interesting way to bring points of views together, that's why they need a high level of acceptance and open minded people, people who are able to consider new ideas and possibilities and don't get "embarrased", something that this place lack.

The point of religion wasn't for the theism and mythologies. It was a way to help keep the community together. However, nowadays, people have been using religion for other purposes, often unethical and the opposite of community building. It is the abuse of religious power that has prompted the aforementioned question from the OP. I don't have a problem with religion as long it is not forced upon the people. The problem with religion in the US is that it is.

I don't think, it wouldn't have any sense.

Hey don't click here ! It's creepy !!

Well I for one will say that those who have current mainstream scientific reasoning as a dogma will be in for a rude awakening over the next couple of decades or so imo

One of the massive mistakes people make is that they assume that only what we can perceive or measure with our limited instrumentation exists

So therefore anything beyond that does not which imo is a very short sighted

When you think about it... Our eyes see an extremely narrow band of the em spectrum... Our ears sense sounds between 20 to 20khz which is why we can't hear dog whistles while dogs can

Scientists themselves have concluded that they cannot visibly detect most of the mass in the universe with current instrumentation but can tell it's there merely by its effect on visible mass

Then the question of if the big bang really happened... Where did the energy come from?...It had to originate from somewhere and I've come to the conclusion that the source must be outside our range of perception just like dark matter

I say all of that to make the point that you shouldn't polarise yourself against things that are called improbable by modern science because as time moves on and we increase what we know many things we thought of as ludicrous will become the status quo... Just like the earth being round

just thought I'd leave this here.
