I don't think that's the only reasons he's avoided Playstation for all these years. From what I've heard, Sakaguchi didn't want the Square Enix merger to happen, and Sony invested some money in one or the other which allowed the merger to happen. That's why Sakaguchi stepped down as Vice President and left Square right around the time that the merger happened. Not sure if that's confirmed or rumored, but it sounds plausible to me, I honestly can't see Mistwalker avoiding Playstation all these years just because of the architecture, not when so many other developers found ways to work around their issues with the architecture. |
Yes that sounds plausible actually. Who knows for certain though since the merger was so long ago and nothing was really reported. I was only going off some interviews from 2007. One of them being here.

"In the latest issue of EGM magazine, Final Fantasy creator and Mistwalker founder Hironobu Sakaguchi mentioned that he doesn't like Ken Kutaragi, the recently retired CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. When asked by EGM why he had no projects planned for the PS3, Sakaguchi said, "The machine's architecture is tricky, and I don't like Ken Kutaragi." As for why the Father of Final Fantasy isn't a fan of the Father of the PlayStation, we don't know -- he didn't elaborate."
