Do you really think the PS4 and Xbone will be their lead consoles for 7 years? The PS5 and Xbtwo will be out by the end of 2018.

Do not underestimate the power of marketing. As long as Nintendo exists as a platform holder, there will always be a baseline upon which to formulate a campaign. Imagine the stigma that would result from claiming that Nintendo games only appeal to corpses and unborn babies. These are pretty much the last taboos to be raped, and would surely bring dozens of hundreds of fans to a competitor's cause.

Are you hinting at the (almost) majority share buyout of MonolithSoft?

Also, if we're going to talk subsidiaries, NoA also has the "Siras" point-of-sale tracking service, and in Japan, partnerships with the TV and animation production studio, OLM, Inc. (responsible for all those pogeyman things, as well as a "Doubutsu no Mori" film). At this stage, with their new premises, cash hoard and the buffering from market storms afforded by stock buybacks, they are in a good position to diversify and supplement their existing ventures, though these investments may be so covert as to remain unknown. If people knew about things like Ki/OON and Aniplex, we'd never hear the end of it.

If they really want to get ahead Sony and Microsoft with the next console, they should really revive the third party development on their console.


But this makes too much sense for nintendo and they won't do it

We'll see a new product line or two by '17. I'd really like to see them get into a real gaming android based tablet. I don't think we'll see a new home console from them until '18.
