It's only been confirmed so far, but they mentioned we would get our first look at it "this fall", whatever that means :p

PS+ is not required to play free to play games. This also includes free to play online games, and MMOs with a subscription. This also includes apps like netflix, crunchyroll, etc.

So maybe you should get an X1. You dont like PS exclusives so maybe you'll like the exclusives Microsoft has to offer. They also will be getting the same multiplats as PS4.
X1 also just dropped it's price to $399 so it's basically the same price as the PS4.
Get an X1( and this is coming from a PS guy).

^^^
but the real question remains. Does he want to play multiplats in higher resolution and frame rates? or not?

On here it says free to play games only, but now that you mention it I do remember some MMO's are going to be able to be played without PS+. I know Elder Scrolls Online will not require a PS+ membership, however you do have to pay the membership for Elder Scrolls Online.
Not sure if your question has been answered yet. From what I understand so far:
1) No. White controller, yes. As far as the console, there's no yes confirmed. Mostly this is a limited edition bundle.
2) In the case of Destiny, yes... I think. I remember hearing that you don't. In the alpha, you didn't need PS+.The way it worked in the Alpha: You can play the main story without PS+. There's competitive multiplayer that requires PS+. There's also multiplayer co-op missions called "Strikes" that require PS+.
Clueless on No Man's Sky.
3) I can't recommend anything I haven't played myself. I'll tell you that I'm hyped for Witcher 3, MGS5 and FarCry4 at the moment. Everything else I can think of is 1st party.
4 ≈ One

Well, yeah, KIND of like a rental....PS+ games are free for the duration of your membership. If your membership lapses, then you lose access to the games that were given out as part of PS+....but, if you renew PS+ after letting it lapse, then you regain access to all of the games given out previously.
I actually subscribed to PS+ BEFORE buying a PS4, before it was announced that it was necissary to play multiplayer on PS4. To ME, it was worth $50/year ($4.16 a month!) to get free games every month on my PS3. Now that I have a Vita and a PS4, it's even more of a value, as I get games for all three of my consoles! I got some damn good games too...XCOM, Bioshock Infinite, Payday 2, Batman Arkham City (I think that's the one...I haven't actually downloaded and played this one yet...it's waiting for me!) and many others.
I don't always play my games right away either. I log on to the PSN via PC when the new free games are released and tag them for later download...this gives me the ability to download the games at any point, EVEN IF THEY ARE REMOVED LATER. I can always go in and download them when I am ready to play them.
So, yeah, I can understand your concerns with "paying for multiplayer"...but given the money Sony is investing in their servers and infrastructure, I don't mind the "tax"...if the online experience was equal to what was offered a few years ago with PS3, yes, I would be pissed, but given all of the improvements they have been working on, I think it's fair to pay a little for multiplayer...BUT, the real value I find in it is with the "Instant Game Collection"...the free games I get every month are worth FAR more than the Four bucks and change I spend!
As to the rest...you are welcome...too many times conversations like these get negative...but I will say...if you are a gamer, and enjoy playing video games, you should get a PS4. There are DOUBLE the number of games available on the PS4 than the XB1 as of right now...and that number is going to do nothing but grow. Chances are you will find a number of titles coming out this year or early next year that will appeal to you. The best advice I could give you is to WAIT until you see the titles that interest YOU, personally. When those titles are released, THEN buy the console. Don't take my word for it, or anyone else's....just buy when YOU feel the time is right!

I like less exclusives on the XBO than on the PS4. I like Sunset Overdrive, and Killer Instinkt. That's pretty much it for now. Also, I like JRPGs... so... yeah... Also, while I don't care for graphics, I do care about performance. If there are more PS4 games running at a higher framerate, that makes me lean more towards the PS4. I definitely haven't ruled the XBO out since I like it's controller better and I REALLY want Killer Instinkt, the PS4 seems like the better choice for my preferences, and there's no guarantee that Sunset Overdrive will remain exclusive, or not just be Dead Rising with grinding.

Didnt see him talk about wanting exclusives so what do you mean? Its not like people only buy a console for exclusives.
