even if it is released on PC, since that is also something that benefits MS.

No it doesn't

And what's with "i don't play games on a PC"? Sounds like a poor excuse. I don't play games on Nintendo consoles and Xboxes. I guess everything that's released on PS4 is a PS4 exclusive, even multiplats.

Beacause sale of an X1 often means the purchaser didn't buy one of the competing consoles, but it is still probable that he/she owns a PC. The formats aren't in direct competition with each other.

Yes they are, now more than ever.

The increased relevance of resolution and framerate

The importing of some PC features to consoles. More and more they are less consoles and just proprietary PCs

Devs comparing console versions to PC counterparts. Like the recent Ubi thing with FC4 and other cases

Promoting games with PC footage

etc

And if he/she owns a PC then he'll pick a console with exclusives. That aren't on PC (I shouldn't even need to add this because if it's on PC then it's automatically not exclusive)

Yes.

I think this term "exclusive" has been watered down to no end. For me, an exclusive is something that you can only get on one platform and nothing else. Period. I could stretch it out and add timed exclusives if its on just one platform for at least 6 months before coming to any other platform. That would still count as an exclusive to me.

I also don't think consoles and PCs are in the same market space. So if a game is exclusive to consoles on one platform but also available on PCs, its an exclusive in my book. Cause the truth is that most console gamers don't play on PC and someone isn't going to change their mind from buying a console simply because said game is also on a PC.

When talking about competition between game companies, yes it is. You can play TF on X1 but not on PS4, it's an argument you could use to sell a console. Being on PC doesn't make much of a difference since it's a niche thing.

Error! Does not compute! Paradoxon detected! ;)

Nope.

Haha, it's hilarious how some people try to support their agendas with such obvious contradiction such as that one.

Everyone has forgotten a fact. For a $60 third party console game sony / microsoft gets an average of $10. Even a few years ago PC third party games were $50. Why? Because its an open platform and they dont have to pay for PC version.

Completely agree, they are in a lot of ways aimed towards different type of gamers.

No offense but some of you are stuck in the early 2000s.

Generally no. Only times I would is when discussing super late ports or discussion regional sales in markets where the other platform isn't prevalent.
