Because more people are preordering the PS4 Destiny bundle than are preordering the XB1 version of Destiny by itself (18th vs 26th), considering we're talking commitments of $449 vs. $59 that says a lot (and of course Destiny PS4 @ 6th while Destiny XB1 is 26th also says it all).
You're ignoring that the regular PS4 is 5th, while the new SKU is even below the Titanfall SKU that's already performed horribly for months, and STILL is.
If the XB1 is doing so amazingly, why are the charts saying otherwise?

But sales haven't "fallen" through the floor, they have remained flat.
Starting with the week before the announcement, sales have been 44k -> 41k ->41k ->52k -> 38k

Probably because its not supply constrained so there's no reason to search for it on the internet. Just go to the store and buy it.
But lets not forget the fact that you believe Xbox One will only sell 55k at the most just because you went into a few stores just to go into the video games section.

That's an absolutely terrible excuse for two reasons :
#1 : The Amazon charts have effectively mirrored NPD for the entire year
and
#2 : The PS4 isn't supply constrained either, it's available freely everywhere you go
So why on earth would XB1 buyers use Amazon less than PS4 buyers? Are they less technically savvy, less likely to use the internet for purchases? I don't think so, there's NO evidence of that.

Actually no they haven't because for May 2014 Amazon has Mario Kart over Watch Dogs PS4 and Minecraft PS3 over Minecraft 360. When we know from NPD the opposite of both are the real sales. So don't go proclaiming Amazon as the almighty oracle, they aren't the only place you can go to buy things. Gamestop is used more than Amazon, and not the online part of Gamestop, the actual retail store is where most sales happen.
Whatever you can cling to in order to make yourself feel better. I'll be watching the NPDs for the meltdowns. XB1 had a minor bump and is back to the walking dead, with zero evidence of any kind to contradict that.
The funny thing about you mentioning those two items is they are the epitome of supply constraint in local terms, and of course you knew obviously that when I was referring to Amazon = NPD I was referring to Hardware (and that's been every month since Jan = Amazon PS4 over XB1 = NPD PS4 over XB1.
MK8 is simply not seen on retail shelves. PS3 is also harder to find hot titles on US shelves due to it getting its teeth smashed in for most of the gen, terrible install base in the US means stores don't want to carry much.

I see many time ps3 outsold xbox360 in Amazon but not in NPD
PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m
Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m
