Forums - Nintendo - Ocarina of Time vs Majora's Mask

Which one is the best?

Ocarina of Time 56 50.45%

Majora's Mask 55 49.55%

Total:111

Majoras Mask everytime

- Better music
- Better quests
- Better story
- Better gameplay ( goron mask ftw)
- Better graphics
- Better World
All around more repayable

They're both masterpieces and OOT was more groundbreaking but I'll take the dark atmosphere/world and crazy good side quests of MM over anything any other Zelda has to offer.

Atto Suggests...:

Book - Malazan Book of the Fallen series

Game - Metro Last Light

TV - Deadwood

Music - Forest Swords

I'd like to give it to Majora's Mask, because of the depth and maturity of its story and mechanics. The game has so much, and it can be very thought-provoking at times

...but I really do have to give it to Ocarina of Time instead. In the end, Majora's Mask simply does not stand on its own as a complete story without Ocarina of Time. Ocarina of Time, though, not only stands alone, but stands very well, with a story that's surprisingly subtle and deep in little ways.

Majora's Mask, by far. One of the best atmospheres in a game. Sure, there are not as many dungeons, but the ones present--such as Snowhead, Great Bay, Ikana, Stone Tower--are some of the best in the series. Moreover, the transitions between dungeons and plot points are much more interesting in MM. I find the beginning of OOT (prior to Adult Link) to be such a chore due to the dialogue, interruptions, backtracking.

Also, the story in MM is much more unique, emotional, and creative than OOT (a bland story. Could have been much more). I actually feel something with the characters in MM due to their reactions to the near-doomed world.

I also enjoy the music in MM much more. It has a sinister and creative feel to it. The moving songs (Astral Observatory, Song of Healing) are better, too.

I grew up with OOT, but it has been surpassed (see above)

Excellent first post! Welcome!

Thanks, friend. Very appreciated.

Well-made point. I will say, though, that in some ways, I find the beginning of MM to be more than a little tedious as well, especially if you already know what to do.

I haven't played MM, but I can tell you Almost every Zelda>OoT (Come at me, OoT fans!!!)

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

The time mechanic can get pretty annoying, but the dungeons make up for it IMO.

Either way, both games are still awesome (To me)!

I like Majora's Mask too but I hated the time mechanic. I also didn't like the focus on sidequests but I give it to you, the dungeon's design was pretty good.  The one thing that was lame too was the final mask... you had to get every mask in the game to obtain it and it was only useful to make the final boss a joke... It gave me no sense of achievment at all.
