Forums - Nintendo - Splatoon WILL have Local Multiplayer and Singleplayer!!!

Still sounds like more of a download title to me. 1 vs 1 same screen doesnt sound like it would be much fun, and i'm sure the single player will be tacked on as I cant imagine a game like this having a meaningful single player (especially since they didnt reveal anything about it). This game seems like it should be priced at $20, not $60...

Clearly Nintendo is still stuck in the past. Modern shooters rarely support these archaic features.

We already knew this, so like I said on the other thread, let's hope the single player isn't jank!

Modern gamer logic:

single player mode, both local and online multiplayer -- "looks/sounds like a $20 digital title"

Titanfall -- no single player, no local multiplayer, entire game is 15 online multiplayer maps -- "this is worth $500 and I will buy all of the DLC"

I disagree.

Game is colorful - "Has to be an experimental indie game, so digital-only and $20 at most."

Game goes for a realistic look - "That looks grown up, shut up and take my money."

Obviously.

Having a single player and local and online multplayer doesnt make a game a full retail package.   Do you know how many download games have those things?  4 vs 4 online multiplayer, 1 vs 1 local multiplayer, and what is probably going to be a throwaway single player (my guess is 4 vs 4 with bots) sounds like what you would get from a download title.

also, Titanfall was overpriced as well.  It should have been $20 as well...

The last boss of the singleplayer campaign should be a giant Mario with the FLUDD that tries to clean everything again.

The ultimate Easter Egg. :P

OT: Nintendo has not only created a new IP, but it looks awesome and is super unique. I really hope sales reward them for this.

Sigh...

It looked like you were making progress in making yourself known with your initial run of the mill trolling, but then you made the mistake to concede that Titanfall is overpriced instead of defending it as a fantastic package in order to feed the flames. One step at a time, I guess.

Lol, maybe I should just a make introduce yourself thread.  They seem to be all the rage these days... Would it be weird to introduce yourself to people you have been talking to for 5 years?

If the mention of a single-player mode sold a lot of people on the game, the mention of it being a full retail title turned me off to it. A $20 eShop primarily multiplayer game would have been fine, but I don't want to pay 60 bucks for something like this. It might be different if the campaign is huge and amazing, but I get the feeling it will just be playing against bots.

But then, I'm a cheap bastard, so...

God forbid you pay €60 for a game that could possibly entertain you for many hours.

Never understood why people don't want to pay as much for games centered around multiplayer yet are completely fine with paying that price for a single-player campaign of 12 hours.

It's a principal thing.  I like to pay for a game based on how much content they crafted, because I feel like that takes a lot more work to create.  Plus, there are tons of games with both a robust campaign and a multiplayer mode, so paying full price for just the multiplayer to me seems like a gyp.  I wouldn't even pay full price for something like Titanfall, and that's got however many bazzilions of dollars put into its development.  This game is something I would expect to see on XBLA for $15.  I'll fully admit that I can't make a final decision until everything about the game is revealed, but I don't think the fact that I'll spend hours on it with my friends makes it more worth the money, because largely we'll be making those hours, not the content creators.  By the same logic it wouldn't matter how much the game took to develop as long as it takes up a lot of your time, so you could charge $60 for something as simple as Tetris.

That's just me though; I like to be pretty frugal and weigh all my purchases.  I'm kind of a freak.  XD  And I certainly I don't look down on people who spend differently than I do.
