I can say the same thing for the people who will buy it. The game made a good reaction.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

There is when it effects sales, which is what this thread is about. I personally don't care if a game sells two copies if it's good, but this is a sales site, and the topic is about sales.

You can't say the same thing when more people don't want it than do. The game made a luke warm reaction, not a good one. A "good" reaction was the reveal of The Division.
Please stop thinking your opinion is a fact. How do you know how many people will not buy this game over something as shallow as character design?
Do you honestly believe Mario has such a great character design? Yet Mario games sell by the millions. Because of the great gameplay.
I've seen mostly positiver reactions.

Yeah, and there are plenty of people who like the look of it...just look through this thread, or any practically any of the videos online from people who have played it. Like I said, there will always be people who don't like the look no matter what Nintendo did...theres no reason to try to please those people, because if you make the game that they want, you will just end up pissing someone else off.
Also, I've seen plenty of previews and whatnot saying that they aren't too sure about The Division...it is hardly unanimously positive.
Hopefully it does. I would've liked to see the Mario crew on it because that'd guarantee sales more than adding a fresh batch of characters.

Thanks for all the great memories!

The Division's reaction was mindblowing, that's why I say Splatoon's one was good.

Would be more adorable with some Squid Girl crossover DLC |
Apparently the shows creator said he would like Squid Girl DLC in the game so it's possible xD
"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

A lot of people in this thread also liked W101. VGChartz is in no way a reflection of the mass market, which is who applies when asking "Should Splatoon have been a Mario game." Nothing is unanimously positive, but The Division's was overwhelmingly positive. It's not that they don't like it "no matter what Nintendo does." It's that Nintendo consistently makes things look a way most people obviously aren't going to like.
I think The Division is the definition of uninteresting. That doesn't mean that it's not going to sell millions on the first day, because it will. Splatoon will be lucky to sell thousands.
