You know what would be awesome? If Nintendo would scratch this original and fun shooter Splatoon and instead make a gritty CoD-like shooter to attract the hardcore gamerz!

Yep. The game would be interesting if you were painting the level with blood, brain matter, and testicle sweat, but paint?!

If I wanted to paint something I'd buy a house.

Yeah, some games need that extra push. Can't play colorful and friendly games all the time, that wouldn't be any fun, and that certainly doesn't fit all genres.

But games can be darker and less colorfull/friendly without sex, nudity, etc. Look at Final Fantasy games, for example. They are typically rated T.

There is literally no reason to make a game M-rated. It adds nothing of value.

On a brighter note, Captain Toad looks very nice and clean, looks like it's using the same AA solution SM3DW used, though looks like it's even better.

Yeah, 3D World was already a gorgeous game, and while some of its assets, -like coins and Toad's character model- seem to be reused intact in Treasure Tracker, others like the dragon showcase a level of polish even beyond what 3D World accomplished.

I expect people to dismiss this because it's "just a cartoon game" or "just rendering a small area", but it really does look nice.

X now seems ugly.

Those Yoshi screens. Really excited for it.

Captain Toad does look great too.

Depends on the genre, some genre's lose their immersion if they don't have certain aspects. If a game is about a zombie apocalypse, how would a person go through it if it were to happen in real life? There would be guns, likely people swearing, blood, sharp tools, dead bodies....tell me how you would make a video game on a zombie apocalypse if you're trying to make it as realistic as possible? Resident Evil will lose its atmosphere if it were rated "T", since a "T" game wouldn't allow certain aspects of a potential apocalypse to be programmed into the game. If the atmosphere of danger, fear and the need to survive is toned down, then that's not a very good zombie apocalypse game and it loses a ton of immersion if an apocalypse were to happen in real life. It doesn't work with every genre, but let's not pretend as if M-rated aspects of games don't exist in real life either. Violence, swearing, etc, all of that is real and happens everywhere, and that will likely happen in zombie apocalypses. There are plenty of reasons to add "M-rated" content to certain genres, don't pretend as if there are "NO" reasons at all. You may not like it, it probably makes you feel uneasy, but others can handle it no problem and feel the immersion in a way it couldn't be experienced any other way.
