The difference is noticeable, but the original Uncharted looks much worse than I remembered!

I believe there is no hype because its not in-game gameplay. Using the whole system to render a cut scene is not the same as in game gameplay. What it means is the PS4 Uncharted Engine can make some nice cutscenes but until we see actual gameplay, its no different then watching a CGI cutscene.
If ND had some small gameplay where they could show that scene going from cutscene to actual gameplay and not lose anything in between then that would make that cutscene more impressive. Even so, not knowing how UC4 will end up as a game may or may not make that scene more impressive then Far Cry 4. When I watched the gameplay from FarCry 4, the game as a whole is truly impressive because everything you see you can actually navigate to. Its not just static scenery where a developer can pump out the best scene.

I don't know, if VR is done right it might be decent. If anything, one thing games (at least first person games) have never been able to capture is peripheral vision. Its like you are moving in a tunnel with blinders on, even after the move to wide screen TVs.
Curved screens on a headgear might open up some options there.

Yeah, but gameplay would have ruined the mystique / tease of the intial trailer. We're just going to have to take their word for it for now. Given what we've seen from Infamous (large open world), and even the Order, I have no doubt that ND can come up with gameplay that looks very very close if not identical to the trailer.
And yes, FC4 did look amazing (wing suit through mountains, amazing scale I think).

Personally I see no reason ND cannot pull off gameplay looking the same as that cutscene. What I am hoping is that trying to get that kind of graphics in-game doesn't make the game a cooridor shooter hybrid. UC3 is probably a good example. I actually got bored with the game even though it looks great. Its a game where ND tighly controlled and if you tried anything outside of where the game was leading you, you died or hit walls. It makes for a great visual for the game but it also make the gameplay kind of stale (at least in my opinion).

Yeah sorry it was the impression i got though...
Was probably an exageration on my part to say that every gaming website is calling this CGI. What i can say for sure though is that a lot of youtuber impression videos have implied it was CGI.
Also around the negativity...that was more how people were seeing it as if this was CGI. It really is the impression i got over the last couple of days since the reveal. Probably just me.
