Forums - Nintendo - 2 Big Unanswered Questions following Nintendo's E3

1. What $100 million dollar acquisition did Nintendo make in Q4 of their fiscal year?

We haven't heard a peep about this all E3. Conservative guess is that it's probably Amiibo or QoL related. But could just as well be something else. Maybe they bought another studio?

2. What is Retro Studios working on?

Recent announcements help us rule out a few possibilities. They're probably not working on Starfox -- that's Miyamoto's projcet. STEAM is from Intelligent Systems. They don't appear to be collaborating on Zelda U or any of the other announced titles at this time or we'd likely hear about it.

Here's five options, ranked by what I consider their general liklihood

1. Metroid Wii U/4. The most wanted choice.

2. DCK:TF DLC. The most conservative choice.

3. Metroid 3DS. The okaaay choice

4. Raven Blade. The surprise choice.

5. Turok reboot. The a-man-can-dream choice. (Retro was formally Iguana Entertainment, which made Turok on N64. Ninty would have to buy the rights to the IP to make it though).

What do you think is going on?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

$100m is QoL, I think they said it was 'non-game related tech', I think it may have been more $ as well, $150m or so.

Good points, but what about the most important thing of all SMT X FIRE EMBLEM!!!!! WHERE IS IT!

Raven Blade? Pls dont get my hopes up.
A new Turok? Do people still want them after those terrible last few?
Why not their prototype Megaman FPS game? Nintendo seems to show more Megaman love these days, Retro worked on something like it before. Win win.

They're not making TF DLC, I'm 100% certain. Also, they just released TF. Their two last projects were revealed just half a year before release, don't know about the Prime games on that.

Yep.

to me, that doesn't exclude amiibo.

Nintendo is doing a good job of reacting to fan feedback with the Wii U launch debacle, so I wouldn't be surprised if Retro is making Metroid. It's that or a first/third person shooter new IP. It's Metroid unless Sakamoto is heading up a new traditional Metroid with another team - he doesn't like the Prime series.

The acquisition is a curious thing, but yeah the safe money is on the new QOL product.

Another two questions:

1. What is the status of Pokken Fighters? I was mildly surprised that we didn't see it at E3 or even hear about it, however I can see if they don't want to spend all of their fighters this soon (even if this is a Pokemon Stadium-esque game). I expect to hear more on this before E3 next yeah.

2. Mother 3? I'm not going to expect much of anything here, but it was mentioned, and so was Star Fox, and we all know what is going on with Star Fox...coincidence? Maybe, we'll see next year...

Yeh! Defuq what happened to Pokken Fighters

Mother 3 could see a VC release now GBA is on Wii U. Worked exceptionally well with Earthbound.

I'm very surprised we didn't see Pokken or SMTxFE.

All that said though, E3 isn't over yet; I'm not holding my breath for any more big news to come out, but I wouldn't be surprised either.

My question is: Why nobody is such as angry as me because Xenoblade X has been delayed? I mean we all thought about it and it wasn't such a surprise but I'm sad...
Sorry, I couldn't stop writing about it^^ But seriously there are a lot of unanswered questions and I hope some of them will be answered soon.

I don't prefer Sony, I don't prefer Nintendo.
...Ok, I love Nintendo but this is something about tolerance, ok?
