Forums - Sony - The Order 1886 is the most linear game ever

Angelus said:

It looks like a terrible game to me. I mean I love me some Quantic Dream type games that are linear and have nothing but quicktime events really for gameplay because they just have cool stories and try to engage you in different ways than other games.

But The Order just looks pretentious to me. It's a movie impersonating a mediocre third person shooter. Walk a few meters, cutscene, take a few shots, cutscene, small quicktime event, cutscene, take another couple shots, cutscene. That was the E3 presentation in a nutshell. It was cringeworthy to be quite honest.

I pretty much feel the same and even Neogaf had the same reaction which was surprising to me.

the journalist seem like a troll. From a 10min controlled demo, its impossible to claim its "the most Linear Game I've Ever Played"

Why advertised this article ?, is obvious is trying to get hits only.

As always when something looks like is going to be the highest  quality there will be haters to try and stain over, and this article is a perfect example of it. Good thing I have my own criteria and it doesn't depend of others. ;)

I'm cautiously optmistic about The Order. It looks pretty cool, with great setting and atmosphere. But I'm worried it might become too scripted and not exciting enough, yes.

That being said, this aversion with linearity that has appeared last gen is disgusting. Being linear is now a terrible fault, god forbid any game follows a estabilished path.

While beautiful, I'm worried for the gameplay. It did seem a tad generic. Considering I'm not overly fond of shooters not named Killzone 2, it's looking like a pass right now

"Dr. Tenma, according to you, lives are equal. That's why I live today. But you must have realised it by now...the only thing people are equal in is death"---Johann Liebert (MONSTER)

"WAR is a racket. It always has been.

It is possibly the oldest, easily the most profitable, surely the most vicious. It is the only one international in scope. It is the only one in which the profits are reckoned in dollars and the losses in lives"---Maj. Gen. Smedley Butler

Not advertising... I covered the subject in the OP so none need to click the link.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Its kind of obvious from all the trailers.

I agree. I saw the trailer and I can say completely sure that this is the most linear game ever.

Is this article trying to lead me to believe Sony is bringing us a linear cinematic experience? I find that hard to believe!

Still interested in it, either I'll buy it cheap or rent it. Don't think it'll have much replay value.
