It was a pretty long line, but I remember that last year the line was longer when they did this same thing at around e3 for those other games.

Any truth to the story folks were offered coupons?

Several i saw: $30 off purchase of Wii U or 3DS hardware, $20 off select games (didn't see the games. I think the coupons were well gone by the time i got up to the actual table)

why is nintendo doing this? bestbuy seems like a little chain if i hear u all complaining about how long u have to travel to the next.

It's a big chain, they're only doing it at "select" best buys though. I mean, where i was living last year, there were two best buys about 30 minutes away from me in two different directions, but the nearest "participating" Best Buy was about 5 hours away (i think. Not sure, just remember that it was too far). This year, on the flip side, there was one about 20 minutes away, and another only about 3 hours away. Luck of the draw, i guess.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

It was a nightmare for me, I waited for about 4 and 1/2 hours and by the time I got there they reduced the games to 1. So I played to 2min of smash and waited 4 1/2 hours. I'm not gonna do any more best buy events if they are 1) major cities like San Fran and 2) they're aren't more locations. Game is fantastic though!

I've reading feedback and reviews of it since yesterday. Lots of interesting commentary from people.

Reasons for Demo'ing at Best Buy?

1. Families shop at best buy for other items too and best buy has a huge impulse buyer rate (for me at least). I've actually bought my Wii U and KDL-50R550A TV at best buy due to their return policies.

2. Best Buy hype. You see a line at best buy when your shopping for a fridge. "Oh what's that about?"

3. Game stop would only have people coming in who already plan on buying a console or game usually. Game stop would also have less families in shopping for random stuff. Those at gamestop are usually more informed. Those at best buy may have never heard of a Wii U before.

It's a good move.

I've never owned smash bros but my wife used to play it and we may very well pick this one up.

Went to the one in Murrieta with my cousin and his GF. Got there an hour early and had to wait 2 hours to get to play for 3 minutes. The rep was great, though I cant believe I missed out on those coupons. They didn't have the coin because of a distribution problem, but hopefully I can go back to see my cousin after release to pick it up. I was surprised they had a 3DS version to try as well and those reps were also great. I played Greninja, I came in 4th. The line was insane when we left and there was no way we could get back in line to play again.

A pretty amazing event after an amazing tournament. I hope they do something like this next year. I love living in southern California.

How does Smash 4 feel compared to Melee and Brawl in terms of speed and balance? I know the final product will be different, but I am still pretty curious!
