To me it is.  I have all 3 ninja gaidens (1 on vita, 2 on 360, and 3 on wii u), all of the GoW's except Ascension, and all of the DMC's--plus some of the lesser beat 'em ups/hack and slash games like Conan, Golden Axe, No More Heroes, etc.  In my personal opinion, Bayonetta 1 stands above them all when it comes to gameplay.  Now story and graphics? Not so much (GoW3 gets that honor).  

My two cents.

Saw it but still not buying a Wii-U just for Bayonetta 2, sorry. Will buy it if it crosses platform whenever in the future.

It's just DMC with a female, more bizzare abilities, cheesier story and more colors. Which is why I don't find it appealing as it lacks substance and variety just like DMC. If you like DMC you most likely will like Bayo as well as those are the fans who want it other than Nintendo fans looking for another game to play.It's not worth the hype as it is just an average game.

Proves my point. It's not worth the hype and all it has is hack n slash where a game like GOW has more to it's gameplay with puzzles, platforming and traversal gameplay. I would not spend $60 on it if youa re looking for something deeper. Okami is the best game to come from Kamiya and a game like that would make the WiiU more appealing.

Gameplay is the most important part of a game, and that's where GOW just can't match Bayonetta. All the shiny graphics in the world can't fix its comparatively lethargic combat.
