Maybe the developers realized the Wii-U is much less powerful than the PS4. I am very disappointed with the comicy art style, even the original Xenoblade Characters looked more realistic. Or maybe the game is now coming out for the original Wii instead of Wii-U.
Or the bitrate and compression of the stram was so low that the real game looks much better, since even Zelda looks very blurry and bad.
I wonder if the budgets of some games is getting cut here because I think Nintendo was not anticipating such low Wii U sales, making it difficult to make money on any high budget game.
Devil's Third looks rough visually too ... so perhaps a low budget there. Even Zelda, perhaps they opted for an art style closer to Skyward Sword to save money, a Zelda game with the visual fidelity of that initial E3 demo probably would've cost a small fortune to make.
Treehouse-stream is demoing the game in a few minutes
Seeing as most people seem to have forgotten. This was a still from when the game was first announced.
I'm sure when they show the open fields it will look just as impressive as you remembered.

I'm not saying it's ugly, but anyone who thinks it looked graphically comparable to FF15 or any other next gen game is quite frankly an idiot. It's fine for what it is an what it's on, but it's no graphical leap, and it never was.
Many of us tried to tell you that Wii U graphics were barely at PS360 level, a fact that has been proved by 95% of the multiplats and all first party games (compared to PS360 similar first party games).
Think seriously about that: in most DF face-offs, the framerate difference between Wii U and both PS360 is bigger than the difference between PS3 and X360... Wii U mostly lagging behind them both.
After the MK8 technical debacle I thought that people would have understood that, but apparently, not... yet.

What? Zelda is cel-shaded, I was watching the stream in full HD and Zelda looked absolutely gorgeous, especially since it was being run in-engine.
Also here's the character models from the Wii Xenoblade Chronicles:

That is not realistic
It was never as beautiful as people here tend to exaggerate, it looks like an average PS3 game, visually. I dont mind as long as it plays well, but it never looked as pretty as its been hyped to be.
