Forums - Gaming - E3 2014: Titanfall 2 Coming to Xbox One and PS4 - Report

A sequel to this year's multiplayer shooter Titanfall will launch for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, a source close to the game's development told The Wall Street Journal in the lead-up to E3.

This is notable because the first Titanfall, developed by Respawn Entertainment and Bluepoint Games, wascreated exclusively for Xbox platforms (Xbox One, Xbox 360) and PC.

The unannounced game, according to the source, is "in the planning stages." EA declined to comment when approached by The Wall Street Journal. There's no word yet on when it might be released, but don't expect it anytime soon, as EA continues to support the original Titanfall with new DLC.

Earlier this year, a source told GameSpot that Titanfall publisher Electronic Arts had reached a deal with Respawn Entertainment to make a sequel. Another report followed, saying the unannounced sequel would be a multiplatform title.

During a post-earnings financial call in May, EA officially confirmed that it had signed a deal with Respawn Entertainment to make more Titanfall "experiences." A sequel to Titanfall would not be much of a surprise, as the first game appeared to have sold well, and captured mindshare in the FPS market.

In October last year, Respawn Entertainment cofounder Vince Zampella said "of course" the company will someday make a game for Sony's PlayStation 4. If the game is indeed only in the planning stages, it would be a surprise if we see it during EA's E3 press conference today. Still, the company has six total titles to announce.

EA's E3 press conference kicks off today at 12 noon PDT. GameSpot will host a live stream of the event and bring you all the news as it happens.

Well this just broke some people thinking it would be exclusive again.

Much better decision bringing it multiplat.

Fix the problems with the first one ...

Not to nitpick but if something was created for 3 platforms, one non-console, it wasn't "created exclusively" for anything.  Good news though.  I personally think Titanfall is a great game that will be improved upon in a sequel.

Knew this ages ago.

No surprises here. They sacrificed a huge chunk of potential sales by keeping it exclusive.

As a gen8, Titanfall player, I could tell you many problems with the game, but I doubt you'd care.

Thought PS guys hated fps games.  Sony fanboys gloat about what they have, hate what they don't have.  Getting old
