So because Square threw away everything good in FF X (and hell, it has a lot of good stuff to keep) and only kept the linearity, FF X "started it" ?

Lol.

Most of you are bashig Tidus, but eventhough he's irritating at times, he's interesting. Why ? Because he evolves through the game. He's not the same guy at all when the game ends (and damn, what an ending).

Also, FF X has a great story, an astounding OST, great side characters (Lulu, Auron, Yuna, Seymour), amazing side quests (the Celestial Weapons, the Dark Aeons, Penance, the Monster Arena, etc...), you got to actually explore Spira, etc...

And I'm sorry, but FF XIII lacks these things, except for the story, which was alright I guess, but not exactly compelling.

I have been over this so many times on this forum (and others), and I really cant be bothered doing it again. Ill give a short summary because Im watching the football.

The linearity isnt the only problem I have with X and XIII. Both games have poor casts. Both games have poor soundtracks (With one or two great tracks from each game). X has the worst voice acting Ive ever heard. Tidus is single handedly the worst main character in any videogame Ive played, everything from his 90s boyband reject design to his voice (Which is the single worst piece of voice acting in videogames by the way) is irritating beyond belief, and XIII has Hope...

On the plus side, X has Auron. There is that.

I guess this is too subjective to be discussed. But about the music, I have to admit I haven't seen a lot of people claiming it's bad.

Wandering, Fleeting Dream, To Zarnakand, Assault/Attack, Final Battle, Silence Before The Storm, Ending Theme...

Also, it has a LOT of diversity, from the "latino" vibes to the Japanese culture inspired themes, including some blues here and there...

I don't really know how it could be better than it is.

Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

By poor I dont mean it was a bad soundtrack, just not memorable outside of a few tracks.

Oh okay, my bad.

Well, then it's totally subjective, and I really can't say anything more about it...

I personnally love the soundtrack and, the tracks I named in my previous posts just stuck with me since my very first playthough, back in 2004. Especially "Fleeting Dream".

FFX had:

-Towns (HUGE difference)

-Backtracking

-Branching paths

-Underwater levels

-Puzzles

-Side-missions (beyond hunts)

-Collectibles

-Mini games

-Secret areas

-A more customizable level-up system

-Interesting NPCs to talk to

-A comprehensible (even good) story

-Better characters...

It really can't be compared to FFXIII.

How do you know that most people who have played Final Fantasy 13 hate the game?
On the Internet? Sure, it has become a cool thing to do to bash it. That was not the case when the game was released, the internet warriors developed this attitude a few months after release and it became common. Edit: SE terrible reputation didn't help either, they made some of the worst decision in the recent years. People were hating on SE through XIII.

It is a good game with its share of flaws.

Please don't talk for all of us, FF13 is garbage and we fans knew it when we played it. I fucking love Square they still make great RPGs but for portables.

I'm just voicing my opinion. I hate to use metacritic in my arguments but garbage games don't score 83. The vast majority praised the combat system but now everyone is bashing on that too. It's growing quietly. I suggest you read about the psychology of crowd.. It is just like the fluster cluck. Sad, but true xD

Blitsball.

That's all.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

We must have played different games, then. Because I recall characters in XIII evolving throughout the game. Lightning went from a heartless bitch to a careful companion. Hope went from a coward towards a not-that-much coward. Fang kept her over-protective attitude throughout the game, but she opened her eyes at the very end. Sazh was well-developed from the very beginning though, so instead he's the comical relief of the team.

I can agree with Snow and Vanille being one-dimensional in the whole game.

Funny thing is,i was thinking about this some days ago.

Both are linear games(FF13 is definitely more)

Both have bad main characters (TIDUS x Lightning)

But in the case of FF10,there is a nostalgia shield protecting.
