Forums - Nintendo - Best entry level Zelda game?

Hmm, so I think I might go for Wind Waker after looking at all of these replies, but then I'd have to buy a used Gamecube copy since I don't have a Wii U. Since I'm not in a hurry I might as well wait until I'll buy a Wii U (which might happen around the release of Smash) and then purchase the HD version.

You own a 3DS, so I'd also like to recommend the Oracle of Ages/Seasons and Link's Awakening DX on the Virtual Console. I'm sure you'd like at least one of them, and they're very cheap entry points for you while you wait for Wind Waker HD.

Majora's Mask is way easy. You beat it in just 3 days. :)

Ask stefl1504 for a sig, even if you don't need one.

Haha, good one. :P

The original, of course. LoZ is still my favorite, yet to be topped. It's an open world 8-bit action game, but awesome. For modern titles WWHD is good.

I'd probably say either incarnation of Wind Waker, followed by Twilight Princess. It kinda depends on what faults you are willing to put up with.

Wind Waker has an excellent light-hearted atmosphere. Even after admitting it has a bunch of faults like sailing takes forever, it's impossible for me to play this game without a big, dumb grin on my face. The cel-shading style works astonishingly well and Link is more expressive than ever.

Twilight Princess is a solid action game. Again, it has faults. The script is somewhat weak and derivative of Ocarina, the new horseback combat and hidden skills are criminally underused, and the dungeons toward the end are too simple. Still, the laundry list makes it sound a lot worse than it is: the core gameplay more than makes up for it's faults.

Oh, yeah, Ocarina is totally overrated. It's a great game, to be sure, but no game could ever live up to that reputation. If it's graphics and gameplay have aged well, the script has aged equally poorly, and having two major installments use that script's sparknotes doesn't help things, either. If you're into games as an art form, Ocarina is worth playing to get to Majora's Mask.

Twilight Princess, much better than the extremely overrated OOT.

^This

OOT is 16 years old FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE.

It is NOT overrated. If you played it upon release you would now this.

I might as well say that Metal Gear Solid (PSOne) is extremely overrated due to it's archaic gameplay mechanics.

16 years old.

Apparently you've never heard hardcore Zelda fans talk about it. It's Nintendo FF7.

Apparently you weren't playing videogames in '98 when OOT revolutionized more aspects of 3d games than anything bar (perhaps) Mario 64.

Skyward Sword is one of the easier ones I think.

Go with Wind Waker, Majora's Mask or Link to the Past. I would pass on Twilight Princess if you didn't like OOT.
