this isnt a repeat of the sixth generation. this notion is so ridiculous. i understand why people believe that it is, but theyre wrong. these people fall in two categories: sony fanatics who had to endure a horrible seventh generation because sony (the king in their eyes) wasnt getting the respect it deserves, and now they are just overjoyed with nintendo's sales falling off a cliff and all of microsoft's blunders, exclaming, "SEKOND CUMMING OF THE PEE ESS TOOOO!!!1Q!!" so yeah, we can cross this mindset out, and if this is why you believe this is a sixth gen repeat, then you might want to reevaluate your reasons. the second group of people take a more objective approach. while not blinded by being trampled on by the wii and the 360 for a good part of the generation, they still believe its a sixth gen repeat for many of the same reasons. xbone and wii u seem to have nothing going for it and its kind of a logical conclusion that the ps4 is going to take 7/10 sales out of all three consoles combined.

this is one huge problem with all this though, the ps2 didnt sell off of hype. do you remember what kind of games were coming out for the ps2 the first two holiday seasons? compare that to what ps4 is looking at. seriously. the ps2 actually got sales because it had the best software. ps4 is getting sales for... for what? not really for much. because microsoft got involved with all this scandalous activity, and sony capitilized off of it trying to pretend like they would NEVER do such a thing! saying crap like, here, this is how you trade games for a sony console *passes game* and all this nonsense. this isn't a reliable way to gain a userbase. while its working for now, this kind of hype isnt going to sustain for an entire generation AND GET YOU 7 TO 8 OUT OF EVERY TEN SALES! its not happening.

nintendo is going to come back because time will show that it is a true gamer's console. right now it is, and honestly, nobody who really knows whats going on can really deny that. the wii u has the best games. its going to be a closer race than you guys think. i still believe ps4 will come out on top, but the race between xbone and wii u will be close together and both will not be miles behind ps4 like in the sixth generation.

for sony to have a sixth gen repeat, theyre going to have to do more than be a computer that plays the same games that xbone does. and you know what? THATS IMPOSSIBLE

Its kind of the natural order of things. Nintendo always lacks third party, Microsoft has enough exclusives but majorly has the top online games and third party and Sony tends to have strong exclusives from every party and great third party. It only makes sense unless a Wii-like situation occurs.

I never understood why the Xbox had more third-party games than the GameCube.  Look at the sales of the consoles! The're practicaly the same and they're both nothing compared to the PS2. Yet there were more third party people willing to develop for the Xbox, despite it being harder to develop for.

Look up the history of Nintendo and you will find ou why Nintendo and third party tend not to see eye to eye. Very eye opening about how Nintendo does business. I used to defend them too.

i apologize for my rant that i did a couple hours ago. i was drunk and didnt realize how antagonistic it was.

PSP was selling less than 200k per week for 5 years...

More like 1st gen probably. I expect something like

PS4: 90-100M
XBO: 60-70M
WiiU: 20M

Sales aren't about games, or features, or fanbases, or history, or brand size, or innoveeeeshution

Sales are simply about playing the market correctly. Whoever plays the market the best, gets the most sales. Simple.

PS4: 170,000,000
XO: 50,000,000
WiiU: 40,000,000

I will put my predictions here and bookmark them and see how right I was.

PS4:60 million (I expect PS4 to do 9 mil to 12 a year, same as PS3 but with shorter time range)
Xone 21 milion ( I don't expect this system to do much, it follows the 3rd console curse)
Wii U 15 million (I wonder if it can even hit this mark honestly)

So in short it will look more like 5th generation more than anything. I expect this generation to last until about 2020. By than atleast one of the new systems will be out. I expect MS than Nintendo to lauch. Sony will lag because they will want gen 8 to last longer. And yes I expect PSP to outsell them all hahaha
