Man you don't need to get offended here, I'm just trying to explain that these things are worded like that for a reason. |
I'm not insulted. You just assume Nintendo engages in double talk when they've been known to mean what they say. When they talk about sales, they very rarely ever mean "shipped" numbers.

That is absolutely not true. When they talk about sales they almost always talk about shipped.

But wouldn't you agree that Nintendo hardly ever releases sales numbers? They aren't the sort of company that does so just to pat themselves on the back over double talk. Nintendo, afterall, is a very proud traditional Japanese company.

Not necessarily. Plenty of great games don't sell well. The reason this is selling so well is hype due to it being an open world/sandbox game like GTA but with hacking which is somewhat(?) of a novelty. Similarly, Dead Island did not sell well because of its quality, but thanks to zombies being popular and the incredible trailer they made. Not saying that the game is not good (it's probably great), but its sales have little to do with quality.
Anyway, congrats to Ubi. And good to see NEW IP's selling well. |
Disagree.
Where are the good games on PS4/X1 ? Those two versions of Watch_Dogs are the top sellers (go look at the charts). Publishers would have made a killing if there were good games releasing for PS4/X1 now.

?
They release shipment numbers every quarter. You can literally go to their website and view how much their biggest games have shipped on their respective platforms or how much hardware and software they have shipped on each platform.
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/software/3ds.html
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/hard_soft/index.html
(And yes, I know both links say "sales", believe me when I tell you that those numbers are shipped)
I think your picture of Nintendo isn't quite realistic.
LOL at some of the gamers saying this game would fail, the hate this game got was moronic...Why any gamer would want a game to fail,. especially a new IP is beyond me it is good for gaming as a whole. The game is really good too.
Should be enough moneyz to push out even more new IPs.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

I'm not debating on whether or not Nintendo announces shipped numbers or not. I'm saying when they make a public announcement. I'm saying it's rare for them to make a public announcement in regards to sales only to pat themselves over the back over double talk. Every company has quarterly financials, but not every company announces them publically.

Umm no, Nintendo was all to anxious to tell everyone how well wii was selling. They do it no more or less then anyone else. Nothng wrong with it either, it's their job to sell a product, announcimng strong sales = more consumer confidence.
