That is absolutely not true. When they talk about sales they almost always talk about shipped.

But wouldn't you agree that Nintendo hardly ever releases sales numbers? They aren't the sort of company that does so just to pat themselves on the back over double talk. Nintendo, afterall, is a very proud traditional Japanese company.

?

They release shipment numbers every quarter. You can literally go to their website and view how much their biggest games have shipped on their respective platforms or how much hardware and software they have shipped on each platform.

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/software/3ds.html

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/ir/en/sales/hard_soft/index.html

(And yes, I know both links say "sales", believe me when I tell you that those numbers are shipped)

I think your picture of Nintendo isn't quite realistic.

I'm not debating on whether or not Nintendo announces shipped numbers or not. I'm saying when they make a public announcement. I'm saying it's rare for them to make a public announcement in regards to sales only to pat themselves over the back over double talk. Every company has quarterly financials, but not every company announces them publically.
