I'm only around 1300+, mainly trying to get 3 stars on all GPs right now.

It is totally bogus that you lose points for disconnect. The game should be able to tell whose fault it was (whether an internet connection problem or manual d/c through power-off), and certainly not punish at the very least for Network-side communication errors (maybe if it's your ISP's fault, perhaps).

I'm only at 1100, after bottoming out at 990 as my first race was a d/c, then raced a fair few more times today.

Dang, i just finally unlocked all the characters and still working on all 3 stars in 50/100/150cc. I have only put in 7 hours and most of it was spent in either single or local multiplayer.
