Forums - Gaming - Homefront:The Revolution Officially Announced & Trailer - PS4/X1/PC 2015

Rumors of a resistance are true. Crytek's sequel to the 2011 shooter Homefront from developer Kaos Studios has been officially announced. Co-published by Crytek and Deep Silver, Homefront: The Revolution is coming to PC, Xbox One and PS4 sometime in 2015.

Taking place four years into the occupation of the US by Korean forces – as portrayed in the original game – Homefront: The Revolution follows a new set of characters as they battle for freedom throughout the war-torn streets of Philadelphia.

By recruiting resistance fighters and using guerilla tactics in an open-world environment, players can terrorize KPA troops and attempt to gain the upper hand either alone or along with friends in online co-op.

Crytek had originally been developing the sequel for THQ, prior to the publisher dissolving. When the publisher's properties were sold, Crytek purchased the franchise to preserve the work its team had put into the title. The Homefront sequel is in development at Crytek UK, formerly Team Radical.

Open world? Interesting....

incredibly boring trailer

It's not cross-gen thankfully

I have very much Killzone SF vibes from the trailer lol, the "protagonist", the checkpoint, scan, enemy armors, seems like they were influenced by it.

As for Homefront 2...I don't know, I feel like we don't need another Homefront on the market, first was very dissapointing, it had a surprisingly decent MP, but at least they are doing something different open world and coop. I like the setting, not really fond of open world. Maybe a 20€ if it gets reviews on par or better than the first.
Ohh and Crytek on PS4, no way.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

Same, really felt and looked like Killzone: Shadow Fall.

Apart from the graphics this trailer ofcourse is mediocre (not to mention that we've already had this kind of thing in KZ and Infamous), but I hope this:

"By recruiting resistance fighters and using guerilla tactics in an open-world environment, players can terrorize KPA troops and attempt to gain the upper hand either alone or along with friends in online co-op."

can make the game something special. The chance is there, although it's slim.

Homefront was one of the final nails in THQs coffin. Better make a sequel.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Hmm i Remember Half Life 2 doing this before Killzone or infamous ss.. i guess both of them was inluenced by that .

To be honest never played HL2, was it in similar art style? Cause this this definitely looks a lot like a today's version of the Helghast part of Vekta, enemies have armors similar to the new Helghast models from SF, just without the glowing orange  eyes, the probable protagonist looks totally like the Father, and both the checkpoint and scan scenes were pretty important to the story in SF.

That's why it struck my attention. Maybe SF borrowed from HL? I don't know, I heard that Resistance 3 single player looks to be heavily influenced by HL though and it didn't feel similar to SF

I love a well-fact-checked article like this -_-

Anyway, that's pretty much the only reason this game is on my radar. Free Radical were awesome. Sadly, I doubt this will have any Timesplitters awesomeness in it.

Kinda surprised they're continuing with the IP to be honest. First one was neither a critical or commercial success. Kinda doesn't bode well for a sequel.

Props to them for making it current-gen-only, though.
