What about the 'Mario Remakes'?
SMA>2>3>4 = SMB 2 (US) > SM World > Yoshi's Island > SMB 3

The only bit I might agree with is that SM World might be the heir to SMB 2 (USA) and not SMB3. That would make NSMB Wii the true heir to SMB 3.
If Yoshi would have been in SMB 3 as planned, how do you think the family tree would play out?
I think SM World either wouldn't have been made and Nintendo go straight to Yoshi's Island or it would be a Mario cash-in aimed at USAsians just like SMB 2 (US) and NSMB-U.
