So really, all people that hate on the ps3 would buy one at a cheaper selling price. Weird! You hate because you can't afford ? I'm glad I hate both Wii and 360 because I can afford them and choose not to :P

For me it's not a question of affordability it's about value for money. I could afford £300 on a PS3 without even blinking but I never pay more more than I think something is worth. for example I can never pay 45p for chewing gum when I know it's worth 35p. I would actually find it easier to splash out £900 on a quality flat screen than paying 45p for gum. If PS came down to $300 (£150) then I would consider it value for money so could buy it.

It is like tuoyo said, value for money. If you cannot settle for DVD or upscaling and have the Tv to take advantage of it, you could argue that the PS3 is good value for money because of Blu-Ray.
But on games alone the PS3 doesn't even begin to stand up to the Wii and 360's value for money.

He lives in an alternate universe. VGChartz has opened up a rift in the space-time continuum to that dimension.
I would get one at $199, and no it is not becasue I am jealous. While I pass just on the price alone ($600 was obscene) it is certainly worth it more than comparably priced products(iPhone).
Now that it has won the format war it is attractive as a Blu-Ray player/ Linux media box.
There are good games but as someone who was not overwhelmed by his PS2 Iwill stick with my Wii for now. Once FFXIII hits and there is a great back-catalog available used and as greatest hits then I can justify another game system.
I just don't have the time for another system right now, but as I usually get multiple systems per generation I am sure I will be getting bored before the next generation hits.
I also expect that software BC will be completed and they will move to 1 SKU maybe a slim version. That would be much easier for my wife to take squeezed into the entertainment center.
As a side note I would not pay $99 for a 360.
Final* Word on Game Delays:
The game will not be any better or include more content then planned. Any commnets that say so are just PR hogwash to make you feel better for having to wait.
Delays are due to lack of proper resources, skill, or adequate planning by the developer.
Do be thankful that they have enough respect for you to delay the game and maintain its intended level of quality.
*naznatips is exempt
Cause I already bought one. Money was better spent on my Wii or DS, but the PS3 is more of a future investment.
I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.
NO NO, NO NO NO.

He means "full software" BC, not full "software BC".

With Blu-Ray playback and Resident Evil 5 I will be willing to pay 299$ for PS3.
I have a Wii, XBox 360 and PC so only about 10% of the PS3's library is unavailable to me; when you eliminate the average and bad games there are only a couple of games available for the PS3 that are particularly interesting, most of which have equilivalents on the XBox 360 or PC. I (personally) will not spend $200 or $300 for the opportunity to play one or two games which are high quality, exclusive, and unusuall unique...
