Ohhhh im 100% sure characters will be announced at E3 I was just hoping they would announce some new character like right before the tournament or at it for the players tp choose from so we can see them in action also it would make the tournamaent more appealing for the masses becuase they would watch it just to see the characters but either way I was going to watch it anyway. I think its an awesome idea for Nintendo to have a tournamant!
Also that sucks if it's true that it was a money problem keeping MewtwoKing from going to the tournament him and Armada are my favorite players from Melee.

My point was very clear and not a moot point, if I had no real point you wouldn't have saw fit to reply to several people in defence of yourself. I won't be replying anymore since there is a fundamental difference in ideologies here. The community as you put it, is not and could never be more important than the game itself, the mechanics are the game the game is the focal point. My comparison was very much relevant and was a yes or no answer. You as far as I am aware have not played ssb4 nor have the people in this thread, if that's the case you have therefore not used the gamepad or the Wii U pro controller with the game, that is frankly what I find most disheartening the unwillingness to try. I reiterate I won't be replying further, I hope no hard feelings. |
no hard feelings at all, were just having a discussion. Your point was irrelavant in regards to the context and comparison you gave. Agreed about the differences, because there is a fundamental difference in terms of the competive scene and the nature of it. The "community" is a component of the whole, hence the reason Nintendo addresses it with the controller and was obviously pertinent to them. Anyone can play with the multiple control options they incorporate (e.g. brawl), but in the end nothing compares to the GC controller. The wireless function alone eliminates it from competitive play alone. Again, try and convince pro Street Fighters to give up their fight sticks....what your asking is illogical and not practical. There is a "reason" why GC is preferred...at least in the competitive scene.

As it relates to smash and the controller?...whatever. GC controller is the preferred and best controller for Smash. Anyone who plays competitively knows this. If you don't play competitively then I understand why you don't understand. Who says that they should use newer controllers? Why? the play style and button config is borderline perfect for this game. Besides, pro players def don't want wireless controllers, wired is much preferred. Also, what does it even matter to you...it doesn't affect you at all and satifies a market and fanbase that Nintendo has. People are buying GC controllers on ebay from 70-100$, there is money to be made from Nintendo's side and it makes it easier for us so that we don't have to import them anymore. Why don't you go and ask the Pro Street Fighter players to go ahead and give up their fight sticks why your at it...smh |
well said
also newer options don't mean better. I don't play smash competitevly at all, and yet I find the gamecube controller the best controller ever made, for any system ever. I love using it for ALL games, not just smash. Its comfy, the buttons are in great positions. THe sticks are awesome. I so wish Nintendo did liek Playstation and stuck to the same controller forever

If I start a petition to get back tripping should Sakurai pander to my wishes despite the fact he saw fit to remove it? Also your "How will me survive,"made no sense so I ignored it. Though evidently you wouldn't survive, adapt or die as they say. |
this controller is OPTIONAL.
If he makes tripping optional, then fine, whatever you can have it.

It's clear that SSB4 is intended to be a more competetive game than Brawl was. Creating the 'for fun' and 'for glory' modes, different versions of the same stages, and moderating online matches makes it clear to me that they're trying to appeal to both competetive and casual players. Producing a GC style controller for more competetive players seems to be a natural move in this context - the wider choice in controller matches the wider choice in game modes to suit all playing styles.
It's not pandering in my eyes - it's recognising what the consumers want and and incorporating it into the product so that it has as wide an appeal as possible.
(Edit) - and as far as tripping is concerned, even without random tripping I'm sure the characters will still be slipping over banana skins, which, as with all items, can be switched off.
having some problems embedding this, here's the link if it doesn't show up here
