Interesting to see digital continually catching up. Didn't realise our games' industry was that big...

The boxes not scaling to the numbers being shown makes me want to stew kittens...

Incidentally that's probably too a traditional british dish.

It keeps down the feral cat population and it's quite nice with a bit a ketup!

Nah, it's not. That's just and old fashioned way of greeting someone who was of a higher social standing than you.

Also a village in Bosnia, apparently :P

10% is massive - used sales. I dont think its fair calling the gaming industry idiots. It's a serious problem just like piracy. I dont think they are idiots for trying to make money from what they have made. Take 10% of your salary and throw it away, it makes a difference. Now if it was 1% I would agree. Of course some people use trade in's to get other games but thats a different discussion for another time.

I have a firm stand on used games and that is it's an issue that isn't really an issue. 10% isn't lost sales, it's 10% of sales already made and that consumer wasn't happy with their purchase, I think someone returning the game for a refund because the game was crap is worse for the developer. A customer not owning the game also won't DLC (no extra income) or use server resources (save on server costs). A new customer buying a cheaper copy of a game used may be more willing to buy DLC or play the game and enjoy it therefore potential of buying a sequel new when it comes out.

Now piracy on the other hand is just theft, no one ever paid for it and it's stealing. They are not comparible in anyway.

Hmm, pie.

The problem is bigger than that, retail stores carry very few *new* copies and so if someone wants a game they sometimes have to go used because there is no other product. The stores themselves push used which is a few £'s cheaper than the full priced product. As stores make so much money from used they can buy less new product and just keep churning the trade in titles, which give nothing to the developer.

It's only because of last gens online pass that they could circumvent people playing online for nothing. That's why it appeared. It's worse now i guess because those passes are gone, but people have to pay sony/ms for MP access, but again people are not paying for the servers when they buy used and play multiplayer.
