Forums - Gaming - What quality do you value most in a game?

Now, we all know that all parts of a game are important when making a great game, however, are there some parts you like more than others?

Out of things like amazing graphics more, good music, smooth gameplay, strong story, etc., which do you value most (this it doesn't mean you only like that one thing, just that you slightly prefer it over other elements, no one is 100% bias free)

For me it would have to probably be art style, actually. If I dont like a games art style theres a high chance I wont play the game at all

I've become shallow. I value good character design over most things. A game with ugly characters, forget it.

Story trumps everything in my book. It can be the prettiest game game ever made, but if the story sucks, the game sucks...

Level-design and Story/Game mechanics (Depending on the genre)

Story and innovative gameplay mechanics. I always enjoy a good story, but I play a variety of games, and not all genres are story heavy. I like seeing interesting new mechanics I've never seen before, and reinventions of old mechanics.

1. Gameplay
2. Atmostphere
3. Story

Gameplay. While I like graphics and would like to have every game to have AAA level graphics, gameplay matters in the end. Storyline is next. Graphics are last.

Multiplayer games - pure fun, something that has everyone having fun, LAUGHING. Not some serious multiplayer that people get pissed at each other for sucking or doing something wrong. I want a game where if someone does somethign wrong it is funny and makes peopel laugh, ect.

Single Player - Story. That's it. I can hardly recall many games soundtracks and some times play with volume not very loud, so music is nothing to me. Graphics/art style are nothign to me. Gameplay at this point in the gaming industry should be a given that the game is playable so I'm not worried about that. So just flat down to is the game interesting enough for me to forgo watching tv, reading a book or popping a different game in. The only thing that can do that is an interesting story.

I really like games that have an imaginative and well thought-out setting. Get the world down pat and there is usually so much that can be built from there.

I'm also a big fan of villains with a lot of personality and flare. They can add a lot to the atmosphere of a game.

A strong story with well developed characters wins me over every time. I guess when I play games, I look for a interactive cinematic experience. I was to understand the world the protagonist is in and learn from their eyes. I also want the characters in games to really stick to and grow on me as the campaign progresses.

An excellent soundtrack that provides fantastic ambiance to the environment helps a great deal as well.
