Wonder what the critics will think if they were thrown into a time loop and had to watch this movie over and over.

I'm interested in it being a fan of the original light novel All You Need is Kill by Hiroshi Sakurazaka, although it seems that a lot has been changed. I would recommend the novel though. It's a nice short read. I think there's a translated version being sold. Alternatively there is a manga adaption by the artist of Death Note and Bakuman.
I like tom cruise, but the movie does'nt look like all that.
I watched it Friday, I really enjoyed it... but then i really enjoyed Oblivion also, so take that as you will.
It's a high quality scifi movie, it has some humour in it, where he does similar things over, its not comedy humour, but more dark humour.
Definitely will be buying on Blu-ray... don't want to go see it again, as I am not a fan of the cinema... there were a group of people playing music on their mobile phones at one point (obviously they were bored)... but after i waved my arms at them in "WTF are you doing" they stopped.. but thats the type of crap that winds me up when i go to the cinema. It cost me £30 for a family of 5, so a Blu-ray disc at £15 is so much more beneficial for me, as I can watch it as many times as I like.
I only found out about it near the beginning of the year and started to read the manga.
I liked what I read, the concept is great but I can see many ways it could go bad sadly.
I still want to see it one day, but I am definitely hard to please with movies lately.

Saw it already (press projection, thanks to a friend).
Very spectacular, great action scenes, nice characters, interesting story, but average 3D,...
Nothing stellar, but it's still a really enjoyable movie.
But don't bother paying more for the 3D, I don't know if it was because of the projection in my theatre, but it wasn't great... I had a good time, and I would watch it again.
7,5/10
EDIT :
Also, to my surprise, the movie is quite funny.
(Not really a spoiler, it's implied in the trailers, but you never know): Tom Cruise dies A LOT in this movie, so it allowed the filming crew to create some really funny situations. It won't send your sides in orbit, but I actually laughed watching it.
Just because you have an opinion doesn't mean you are necessarily right.

I'm looking forward to it after the most recent theatrical trailer, but Rotten Tomatoes might not be the best barometer. The "fresh" to "rotten" ratio can artificially inflate the score. For example, a movie that receives all 75s would earn a 100% "fresh" rating, even if none of the critics gave it a 100.
The average rating looks like 7.8, and that's the more important number in my mind.
In any event, I'll be seeing it next weekend :)

I think both freshness and overall rating are useful. A movie coud be really hit and miss and have a 50% freshness, but a 6.5 rating because the people who did enjoy the movie ended up loving it, but a movie with a 95% freshness and a 6.5 means that although the movie isn't groundbreaking it is generally enjoyed by everyone. So with a 95% fresh and a 7.8 edge is proving to be quite a good movie. All the reviews from people I've read say it's one of the best summer block busters they've ever seen.
I was walking down along the street and I heard this voice saying, "Good evening, Mr. Dowd." Well, I turned around and here was this big six-foot rabbit leaning up against a lamp-post. Well, I thought nothing of that because when you've lived in a town as long as I've lived in this one, you get used to the fact that everybody knows your name.
Finally saw this, enjoyed it a lot. A very well made, very entertaining and generally good film.
I do have a couple of issues with the cliche way of how to defeat the enemy and the ending but it doesn't take away from the fun of it all.
Hmm, pie.
